you've just so happened to have 2 of the top 5 college coaches of all time.

There is no divine right for you to have that.
Bama is considered one of the best coaching jobs... It's not a total coincidence pal

No divine right, but a commitment to winning at college football helps.

You been saying this for years DS, years.

This is true and any Bama fan expecting to continue a Sabanesque run isn't being realistic.

On the other hand, Gene Stallings averaged 10 wins a year over 7 seasons when the regular season was 11 games and had a real shot at a couple more titles (damn you Spurrier). That's a level Bama could and should expect to sustain.

Sure I mean obviously Bama is a great job. Barring a total meltdown you'll still be in the hunt on the reg. If you look at the period between say 1982 and 2002, that's the *mean* for Bama, which is a hell of a mean considering y'all won a lot of games, SEC titles, and a Natty.

And yes having had multiple coaches have so much success will make you more attractive to future great coaches. Timing is such a huge part of that stuff though.

I'm not saying anything that should be considered even remotely controversial.

Oh you are not, I just think it's funny how important this seems to be to you.

I mean I'm not starting these threads, I'm responding to them.

Surely you can understand why an LSU fan would be anxious to get to the post saban @bama era

Every dynasty is built by an awesome coach.

Whoever lands the next all world coach will be best positioned to set themselves up as the preeminent program.

2,1,2,1,5,3,1

Want to know what those are?

They're Alabama's SEC west finishes for the rest of that decade. A 24-23 SECCG loss to UF was the only thing that kept Bama from playing for the title again in 94.

They won the west again in 2002 but were ineligible due to sanctions.

Even discounting the ineligible season and including the Shula years, you know who won the west more than Bama between the end of the 1992 season and the end of the 2007 season?

NOBODY

Digest that for a minute and try to not get too depressed.

I hate to, but I have to agree with you...after Bear and up until Saban, we had one very good coach, Stallings, in between many mediocre ones.

Nah, we are going to bring Dabo home and he'll start it all over again.

Lane is gonna take the reigns after Saban and take Bama to a whole new level

This might be true, since I notice you didn't say a higher level

I also watched those games as a teenager. The Army-ND games were great, but it was a completely different type of football. Don't think either one of those teams would compete with the better teams today. They were much smaller, and the game is much faster.

Our program/fanbase will demand an awesome coach, and will keep firing them until we get one if we have to.
