There are many different factors to determine home-field advantage, from stadium capacity to straight-up records. At Action Network, we base home-field advantage on one metric: Does a team cover the closing number from oddsmakers? While most outlets assume 2.5 points for the home team, our calculations use a tangent to determine the final numbers. Based on against-the-spread numbers from a three- and 10-year sample, a Taylor series is used to deviate from the standard home-field advantage. The 10-year sample accounts for 80% of the deviation from 2.5 points, while the remaining 20% consists of the previous three years. While head coaches and recruiting classes come and go, this formula provides approximately 60 data points over a decade to determine home-field advantage.

With LSU taking over the top spot, here's the full list of college football home-field advantages that will be used to build win totals in 2024..

Home Field Advantage (pts)
1.) LSU 3.9
13.) Oklahoma 3.3
16.) Alabama 3.2
25.) Texas 3.0
41.) Kentucky 2.7
50.) Mississippi State 2.6
51.) Auburn 2.6
56.) Texas A&M 2.5
60.) Missouri 2.5
61.) Florida 2.5
69.) Ole Miss 2.4
72.) Arkansas 2.4
74.) Tennessee 2.3
76.) South Carolina 2.3
104.) Georgia 1.8
128.) Vanderbilt 0.9

Neyland in the ghetto wasn’t worth 3 points to LSU last game.

Did they ‘mathematically’ leave off LSU’s Death Valley record of 8-29-2 against Bama?

Seems totally legit. No one wants to have to walk into (checks notes)… LEXINGTON and STARKVILLE

Gonna suck for you when we continually make the playoffs and LSU makes an appearance once every three or four years.

If anyone gets the death penalty it will be the NCAA.

Y’all have traditionally kicked pretty much everyone’s arse in their stadium except for Auburn so I consider that stat a wash. Not everything is about Alabama.

Largely bc you guys perennially have the refs in your pocket. Probably why you’re broke.

Congrats on celebrating not losing games by more points than someone in Las Vegas predicted you to.

What an accomplishment.
