ACC has 14 teams. The SEC is expanding to 16. The jist of the 1/7 vs 3/6 debate was essentially to accomplish the same thing.

This is a great model. I'm currently in Durham, and I think it's so stupid that WF hardly sees UNC. Heck, NCSU and Duke never play each other either

Edit: Just realized NCSU is going to lose its annual rivalry with WF and get Duke instead.... lol

We need to go to 3-6

Which schools are the pussies that are holding this back?

For that comment, put OU and UGA as permanent opponents. I’d enjoy watching the annual beatings the Sooners would put on Georgia.

1-7 vs 3-6 debate is dead locked mainly due to the additional conference game.
Thus teams who have OOC rivals for rivalry week (UK, South Carolina, Georgia, Florida) get shafted by this scheduling as they have to play an extra power 5 opponent that the other schools may not, which could hurt their chances at a bowl game. This of course doesn't include the other weaker programs w/o OOC rivals that really need that extra easier ooc game to make getting to a bowl easier

Also, as Stoops said, enough people get fired from this league. Adding an extra conference game gaurantees half the conference an extra loss which only adds more fuel to the fire under coaches.

So that's why there's a debate. Personally I think they should just do 3-5 so each side gets something of what they want but whatever

Might as well start this again.

New SEC 2-7 format predictions -

Texas A&M - Texas / LSU
Texas - Texas A&M / Oklahoma
LSU - Texas A&M / Ole Miss
Alabama - Auburn / Tennessee
Georgia - Auburn / Florida
Ole Miss - LSU / MSU
Tennessee - Alabama / Vandy
Auburn - Alabama / Georgia

From here it gets more opinionated -

MSU - Ole Miss / Arkansas
Arkansas - MSU / Mizzou
Mizzou - Arkansas / Kentucky
Kentucky - Mizzou / Florida
Florida - Georgia / Kentucky
Vandy - Tennesse / South Carolina
South Carolina - Vandy / Oklahoma
Oklahoma - Texas / South Carolina

How many SEC west teams could run the table in the ACC? 3? 4?

I'd rather see four divisions of four with a 3-1-4 (three divisional opponents/one out-of-division rival/four out-of-division rotational) model. Winning your division is just as nice of a goal as winning the conference or national titles (albeit, it's not as nice).

P.S. Also, IDGAF about playing every team every four years. Outside of them being in the conference, why would Auburn or Georgia care about playing Oklahoma and Texas, etc?

P.P.S. The divisional format has worked for the SEC, too, so why would we change it to follow conferences that can barely sellout their games?

And on this note, while the notion would be just to drop the rivalries, here in Kentucky multiple bipartisan legislators have threatened to legislate the Louisville game into our schedule no matter what the SEC decides. I could see other states doing the same.

A championship is a championship. If you doubt otherwise, go ask Saban if he would discount winning the SEC West as a benchmark and goal for his team.

I think South Carolina already requires this between cocky and clemson if I'm not mistaken
