man, you sure have gone over the top just describing a damn pep rally. guess you threw the robes and candles in just to emphasize your point even tho surely that was contrived. so they do organized cheers; every cheer led by every "cheer leader" is organized. ok, having guys instead of girls is different but everything else doesn't factually sound wierd; merely contrived to sound so.

I remember that article. Pretty funny, well written, and dead-on ballz accurate. It's weird how Aggie Lore kinda rubs off on you. It gets in your soul and turns you into....an AGGIE....

Attend Midnight Yell at your own risk (of becoming a jar jizzing, nut squeezing, weirdo).

My midnight tradition on Friday before gameday Saturday is drinking.

This yell practice thing looks like a cult. The next logical step in a cult is either Jonestown or Sandusky.

Meh. People bag on A&M because its not like every other university out there, as it shouldn't be. I say that because how many other universities do you see out there that started off as a tiny, military, all male college for most of its existence then explodes into one of the largest public universities in the country in a few decades?

You think our traditions aren't going to be centered around that foundation?
Our yell leaders are all males and we don't have cheerleaders. Hmmm I wonder how that could be possible?

The truth is, A&M is changing culturally and adapting. I wouldn't be surprised to see girls on the field fairly soon. For the most part, our students and our university is very similar to most around the country and we are not as weird as we are perceived. You just have to understand our history.

A&M IS a cult, according to definition

ETA: And we're ok with that, but it's funny to watch y'all squirm

Mass is a ritual that Catholics perform. They have Mass for many occasions and it is a ceremony that binds them.

Midnight Yell is a ritual that Aggies perform. They do Midnight Yell for many occasions and it is a ceremony that binds them.

BTW, A&M has one of the largest Catholic student populations in the US of any public University.

Coincidentally, the best selling item at the local drug store after a yell practice? Astroglide.

Stuff SCREAMS off the shelves.

What an overrought piece of crap story.

Yell practice is heavily attended by everyone early in the season. Towards the end of the year it ends up being the Corps and a few thousand die-hards.

Either way, it's just an interruption in the nights typical college activities: drinking and chasing the opposite sex. No big deal.

You have one of the biggest residential student populations in America. Of course you have the largest population of something.

And you just gladly compared learning football game cheers to religion.
