ALERT - HONEST ASSESSMENT BELOW:
A&M is not known historically for being celebrity, it is known for being patriotic. Up until this year, every bowl game usually featured ESPN or Mushburger propping up the other team in the pre-game. So, this media frenzy is all very new. But things have changed. Little brother has stepped into the spotlight.
The move to the SEC was the REAL catalyst. If you know about politics in the State of Texas, you know how big of a deal the move was. I think it took big balls on Loftin's part to be pro-active and balls by the Board of Regents to defy the Big 12, the Texas and National Media, and the State Legislature. There were threats of lawsuits from other schools, etc.
These same big balls are on display now. For better or for worse. It is different, but I am embracing it for the time being.
The JFF phenomenon has just amplified things to a different level.
