The diligent citizens of Twitter were quick to point out that this is not actually a King Cake. A quick Google search confirms that yep, this doesn’t look anything like one
...
The account has since deleted the tweet and replaced the description with “Mardi Gras Cake” which is about as bland a description as the cake in the picture warrants. Apologies to all our Internet pals, especially ATVS. We had nothing to do with it.

As a Louisiana boy who lives in Texas I can tell you the people here have no clue what a King Cake is. Their "king cakes" you buy at the store don't look like the one in OP, but they do have fricking colored SPRINKLES instead of icing like a proper king cake.
For the longest time I had family members ship me king cakes yearly for this reason.
