A year in the life of a Georgia Bull Dog fan....

The calendar for a Georgia fan goes something like this:

January: Lose bowl game (if they're in one; this event often moves back to late December, on the Ocho). Blame refs and one of the coordinators. Declare that the upcoming season is "their year."

February: Declare themselves national recruiting champions. "This class will ensure that we never lose another game."

March: Spring game. Declare this year's new running back "The next Herschel."

April-July: Argue heatedly about the margins of victory in the upcoming season. Debate hotel room locations for the BCS game. Squash any suggestion of failure by repeated references to "talent" and "one of the top programs in the country." Blame repeated player arrests on the media and over-zealous police.

August: Declare an undefeated season is at hand. Extol the virtues of players who couldn't beat lower-tier teams the year before and pass those failures off as aberrations.

September: Lose to South Carolina. Declare this a fluke and scrutinize the future schedule for how to make up a game in the division.

October: Lose to Tennessee. Blame loss on coordinator. Lose to Florida. Rationalize by noting they always lose to Florida, and that Tampa is nice in January.

November: Lose to Auburn. Rip hair out and blame on "dirty football" or "cheating" or both. Call for firing coordinator and a "get-tough" return to "old Georgia football."

December: Lose bowl game (if applicable). Start looking forward to recruiting season.
