LSU did not underachieve. Quarterback development, offensive playcalling, and questionable personnel choices are a part of Les Miles's LSU. If LSU underachieved this season, then they are a perennial underachiever. Once you accept that, you will no longer feel grief about the status of LSU football.

Les Miles is a luckier Mark Richt. There are plenty of eerie similarities between the two programs. LSU is the Georgia of the SEC West.

This will end well.

But these are facts.

2 NC's and 4 SEC titles in the last 13 years is underachieving? I am not a Miles defender but he has been to 2 NC games in the last 8 years.

UGA hasn't won a NC in 34 years. Nice try though. Aren't you precious.

Hence the luck. 2011 LSU was an anomaly. They didn't need luck to win nor did they lose 2 regular season games as all other Les Miles teams have done. 2011 dominated everyone on their schedule en route to a 13-0 record against arguable the toughest schedule of all time. Les Miles hasn't come close to an undefeated season against weaker schedules and lesser competition.

Comparisons with Georgia
2 SEC titles
Recruiting hotbeds
Big 6 members
Play UF annually
Own Auburn
Typically "drop" a game
South Carolina is Georgia's main SEC East opposition just like Alabama is LSU's. Georgia and LSU are both 1-4 versus their main divisional opposition in the past 4 meetings.
Both programs are headed by "nice guys".
LSU has been lacking an offense while Georgia has been lacking a defense.
Fans of both teams love to place blame where it does not belong, such as on refs.

What does your question have to do with Les Miles or this thread? Miles only owns 2 of those SEC titles and one of those crystal balls in 10 years as LSU's head coach, and there's little sign that he'll earn more than that anytime soon.

Meh, these exact same words were being said in 08-09 too. Truth is, you nor I can predict the future.

But whatever makes you feel better about yourself I suppose.

If LSU had a QB, they'd be in the playoff.

But if my aunt had balls, CP3LSU25 would try to frick her.

Now, let's consider that Wisconsin was dominating LSU until they lost their Heisman candidate running back to injury along with 2 starters on the front 7.

Perpetuate that Wisc myth about Gordon injury. Go back and look at the Play by play log. MG carried the ball four times for zero net yards in the second half and he played the whole second half. Wisc was getting their arse kicked on offense and made that shite up after the game. They only ran the ball about 12 times in the second half and QB, MG, and Clement split thoses carries and none of them were effective. MG made a miraculous recovery for their next game...

Where is all the optimism coming from?

Mid way through the season a couple of major personnel changes were made on defense and the wah-lah! the defense was fixed. The offense was still struggling in the passing game but the running game was very good. LSU does not expect to lose much to graduation and/or draft like the other schools in the division. Therefore the expectation that the QB play will be improved is the major hurdle for LSU to improve next year but the expectation is there.

QB play didn't lose the Mississippi State or Auburn games. LSU's defense couldn't stop Mississippi State and Auburn scored at will. No 2-loss team had a shot at the playoffs this season.

LSU could have a great team next year but they won't. The truth is you guys do not have a qb. Harris is even worse than jennings, you have the most over rated OC in the country and you still have a grass eating moron for a head coach. You may get lucky and win 9 games. 9 win seasons are pretty good if you are a tiger fan.

Auburn scored at will against a tired defense, our offense couldn't stay on the field. 0-13 on third down

I'll be concise.

Seasons with Fewer Than 2 Regular Season Losses Since 2008
I'll substitute 2007 LSU for 2008 LSU since I'm removing Saban's worst team.

LSU: 2
Alabama: 6
Coincidentally, that's Alabama's record versus LSU in that time frame.

We had a lot to do with this Bama "C" game you speak of. It takes a decent team to hold Bama to 10 with :50 seconds to go.

I actually think we played as good as we could. Miles always plays us tough. He is obsessed with beating Bama. A better strategy might be to focus on beating other teams a little more. Y'all would have more consistency if you did. What good is focussing on Bama if we are beating you every year anyway?
