During the games against better teams did the Texas A&M offense production increase or decrease in the second half. Seems that in the UF, LSU and Bama games the offense stalled in the second half and even to a degree in the second period. Why is that? The defenses are figuring out what they are doing and making adjustments.

This happens to every system and why teams are not running the wishbone or notre dame box today. Where that doesn't happen is just having better execution than the player on other side. A&M is a top program and has been for a long time but if they think they can dominate the SEC based on this year then they will be disaapointed.

I think that even though Johnny Football is an excellent athete he will not have the same success next year unless A&M makes some major changes to confuse the defense again.

Defenses make adjustments to take away strengths and you can be sure the better teams will do that next year.

He'll be figured out by next year. Look for them to finish behind Bama, LSU, and Ole Miss in the west next season.

So you're saying the Alabama scheme is just really shitty?

Then we couldn't make any adjustments because it was so shitty, and then you just started scoring points?

lol awful logic. Our scheme is completely based off the 1st and 4th quarters. You can even watch the quickness of snaps and play selection. We generally try and come out swinging in the first, and catch the other team off guard. The second and third quarters we go back to our base sets of plays more, and just try and execute efficiently. Then Q4 rolls around and we hope to have worn the defense down enough so that we'll run another chunk of the play book.

Case in point. The play we ran to score on bama in the 4th quarter? The exact same scoring play we used against ole miss for the go ahead.

We've heard similar BS at the beginning of the year. How do you prepare for a QB eludes defenses like Johnny does? He's not a typical player you "figure out"; you just hope he doesn't burn you too bad.

RGIII comes to mind. I guess just try and get a lick or two in on him.

In the case of LSU and Bama, A&M was so dominant in the first quarter that it would have been impossible to keep that pace up.

In retrospect, we still totaled 400+ yards and five scoring drives or redzone trips in the second half of those games. It's not like we stalled completely. Good defense fnally started playing like good defenses, and our offense slowed down. Without a tipped INT we still win both games, so I'm not concerned about it.

UF game FL made adjustments at half. If you watched the game, the Ags kept running the same 6 or 8 plays. Probably had less than half of the offense installed and JFF had no experience at all checking out of plays. FL game was the result of great defensive speed, very good defensive adjustments at half, and a freshman QB and new offense that is actually pretty complicated.

LSU game was a combination of LSU defense and A&M mistakes. LSU defense is quick and DBs played very well. At the end of the day, JFF made some mistakes and the kicking game sucked. Still moved the ball okay against LSU. Had over 400 yards but too many turnovers.. some forced, some not. Also, missed a couple of reasonable field goals.

Better team won on both of those particular days in my opinion. A&M was much improved by the end of the season.

Their two first round tackles leaving are going to hurt them more than they think

Hit him hard and make him remember it. Make him throw the ball 50 times in a game and eventually he will make mistakes.

Nobody but Bama and LSU in the West have the defensive athletes to slow down our offense.

Matthews is staying and Joeckal's backup was almost as highly ranked out of HS as he was.

Compared to Metenburger, I can see your vantage point.

well..almost
any qb that cannot get 270 yards in 50+ attempts is garbage...and he definitely is NOT that. To say the LSU defense did not figure him out would be ignorant. The dude couldn't rush the ball to save his life in that game and ultimately made game changing mistakes because of it.

LSU was lucky though...

Well obviously if he's almost as highly rated he'll be just as good!

So first it was. "These offenses won't work in the SEC". Now it is "Since we've seen it this offense won't work next year". I love the thought process where the defense evolves but the offense doesn't.
