Prior to Billy Gillispie (2004-2005 season), this record was 1033-1055.

It took him 2 seasons to get us above .500 all-time.

Shelby Metcalf was the highlight of A&M basketball to that point.

Ironically, we are tops in the SEC for all-time baseball records. Hard to believe, but historically the SEC in general wasn't good at baseball until the last 20-30 years.

But we don't get that sunshine long. Texas officially joins at the end of June and they are the winningest team of all time.

I'm surprised that we have an even record, honestly.

Got injured, got a Purple Heart and went back into the battle in the Pacific theater before the war was over. Bryant owned him on the football field but Shug was a badass.

As a Vol fan...leading the SEC in ties is the "most Vol" basketball stat there could be.

This is why those of us who have been around Auburn for a while are thrilled to be where we are at Basketball wise under Bruce.

You can tell which of our fans have little knowledge of our hardwood struggles because they trash Bruce so much. They are quite dumb and infantile.

They are obviously including their pre-SEC years.

I'd have guessed Auburn, Georgia, and Ole Miss were below .500 all time.

Should’ve called us. We were highly flawed this year but still knew how to beat Yale.

K. But the fact still remains that Kansas is winless against Auburn in every sport.

So we were also highly flawed this year, but we still know how to beat you.

This is classic bammer little brother behavior.

Makes the final four for the first time, only 5 years after big brother makes it, and still can’t help himself but to post about big brother.

Aubsessed.

Yeah, dude, we kinda sucked for a long time.

Ole Miss sitting at a perfect .500 at 1344 wins and 1344 loses. The odds of that....

Top 50 teams all time:

Not entirely sure I realized we passed Tennessee at some point.

absolutely it is for real - Auburn historically is one of the worst basketball programs in the conference. In "recent" history AU had a few blips of success (i.e. 1999, 2003) but overall this program has been a dumpster fire.

It even took Pearl a number of years at Auburn to get them competitive - IMO that is what makes what Pearl has done so impressive. Bruce has gotten this program competitive on a yearly basis...he really has spoiled us. Now the real question is will the success of this program stay competitive after he leaves?
An astute and accurate post....

Not a surprise at all.

That's why I'm still giddy even making the tournament nowadays.

What Pearl has done in his tenure is nothing short of miraculous

I believe AU was ranked ahead of Ole Miss and UGA - not last, but close to it.

Yeah, so to put that into perspective, in 1991 when Arkansas came into the SEC (from the SWC), they had just left the Eddie Sutton era, and Nolan Richardson was their current head coach — both of whom are now in the HoF.

Those guys coached for 28 years.

Not too shabby.
