Jim Hawthorne was an Icon in Sec sports like Jack Cristil (RIP) for Msu and Georgia's long time broadcaster etc. I hate to think of the day Jim Ellis retires from Miss State because it's coming soon. I sometimes wonder if fans truly understand how big some of these guys are / were. The Sec has had the best broadcasters in the business.

There was a broadcaster some few years back for a Pac10 school we played on the road that a lot of Msu fans decided to listen call a game or two in baseball. I want to say either Ucla or Zona / Zona State but he was very good. A matter of fact guy who kept it interesting with no dead air time. We fell inlove listening to that guy. A good broadcaster who is special is hard to find.
