Most likely because the East kinda still sucks so we have a good shot at making the SEC Championship game if we don't shoot ourselves in the foot (again).

The West is arguably tougher with more parity so the odds of making it out of the West are a little bit trickier.

Even if we cede that the west is tougher (which I don't FWIW as conference games are different) have you looked at Tennessee's, Georgia's, and even Florida's schedules? All three have at least one top tier opponent (not just any old P5 school) AND their cross division permanent draws are: UT-BAMA, UGA-AUB, UF-LSU.

IOW, I don't think you can argue that those three in particular have an easier path. And honestly to get a legit comparison of 'ease' we'd have to look at each school's schedule and there are a lot of SEC teams that load up on weak teams and bottom dwellers from the P5 now that that rule is in effect.

I don't think we will know about parity within a division until the season starts. Last season was an oddity for the West.

Auburn and UTk might be a tad too high, and I would go long Florida and South Carolina. They should be top half of the SEC.

I might put TAMU a few places higher.
So...

Bama
UGA
LSU
FAU
USCe
Pigs
TAMU
UTk
UF
OM
Missou
MSU
UK
Vandy

The oil business skews the average, especially since those stats are typically derived from starting pay.

At any rate, the Haslam family and Jim Clayton, to name a few, seem to be doing rather well for themselves.

Take out that 3rd mortgage. Put it all on Mizzou. Take out 4th mortgage. Hedge just before championship game. Profit.

Let me try to explain odds to you. Odds are based on percentages or likelihoods. It doesn't determine who is better. Tennessee has better odds because they play in the East. They have a much easier path than LSU to make the SEC Championship, and therefore easier path to win the SEC.

Hope this helps

Not sure why they have us in such high regard.

The same high regard as Auburn. You're right. That's ridiculous

AU should be ahead of Bama. They have arguably the best QB situation outside Starkville. And all the rest of our woofing aside, Boom is going to make them better on the defensive side of the ball.

Another thing I don't like about A&M in the conference. Used to be when you said UT around here there was no question or second thought about who you were talking about.

There aren't saying Tenn. over LSU !!

But since there are 3 teams from the West ahead of LSU and 2 from the East ahead of Tenn., plus Bama and Auburn ( have no clue why ) are the top 2 favorites, then naturally the odds are longer.

And the oil business is going in the shitter. No more overpaid swamptrash. And Louisiana is an armpit.
