Week 8: #54 @ 424 ypg

This is really quite remarkable and sad at the same time. And spare me with the "you played nobody" shite. That's the point. Week 2 was against Jacksonville fricking State.

I caught a little bit of it. The Big 12 and the SEC are like two completely different games

How about net scoring defense? Take the number of points the defense has given up and then subtract the number of points they have scored themselves. That's a much more relevant statistic...measure how much the scoreboard changes when the defense is on the field.

No one comes close to this:

Alabama...119 points given up, 56 points scored, net of 63 points, 7.9 per game.

Interesting to note, you played the #107 team in total defense and only improved your average by 15 ypg.

BTW, after our first game of the year we were ranked around #110 in total offense at 262 ypg. We are now #14 at 501 ypg, ahead of both Bama and TAMU.

But we're also behind the best offense in the SEC, statistically speaking: Mizzou, at 505 ypg. Which is why yards per game can be pretty deceiving as a performance metric.

That is just sick.

There's no other way to describe it.

So basically Bama would essentially lose every game only by an average of 8-0 if their offense never took the field? (Yeah, I know math doesn't work that way.)

I miscounted. Nine defensive TDs. 119 points given up. 63 points scored, for a net allowed of 56 points...7.0 per game.

But following up on your point, then you have to throw in the three punt returns, for 21 more points.

So yeah, if Alabama's offense never set foot on the field, they would have lost every game by an average score of a little less than 6-0.
