the '99 team

Never was sold on that team. I was a student at MSU in those days and I remember them well. They barely got wins over Memphis, Kentucky and LSU (when they went 3-9). They got as high as #7 in the country but they didn't get the wins they needed vs. Bama and Arkansas.

Our field goal kicking is a hot mess. Our punt/coverage is off the charts though, from our gunners to WG being an Aussie badass. Our kick return game is so-so but our punt return game is shite. I have no fricking idea what to make of our special teams.
Don't forget the kickoff coverage AKA Channing Ward.

Ole miss should be higher bc they beat the best team in the country.

Blind squirrel finds a nut every once in a while.

Too bad we won't get a rematch in the championship game bc yall will lose a few games.

Up to this point, I would say State by a slight margin. The only problem I have with Ole Miss is they take the 1st 3 quarters off although they are the best 4th quarter team in the business right now. Miss State easily handled LSU and A&M. Ole Miss topping Alabama is a more impressive effort, but the way Miss State played in both SEC games is overly more impressive.

I agree. And im gonna sound like im putting State down when i say this but i swear i dont mean to.

States 2 big wins are against LSU and A&M. Each of those schools could honestly end up finishing in the 5-7 range in the West while Bama (most believe) is gonna be in the West battle till the end.

This weekends game against Auburn is going to sell me on State one way or another. If they take out Auburn i fully expect them to give Bama a run and for them to be the team to beat in the West.

If not then i will continue to put my thoughts on hold.

But OM could go to College Station and get beat by A&M and it will help prove that State is legit.

Again i am seriously not trying to discredit States wins but we honestly just cant tell yet imo

I don't think anyone believes LSU or A&M is anywhere near the caliber of Bama. To this point though, Miss State has played to their identity more comfortably and have looked like a better team. I actually can see both Ole Miss and Miss State losing this weekend though. Not that they aren't good teams, but I think their respective matchups will be different challenges than they have faced this year.

IMO... MSU.

MSU - Excellent offense, best QB in SEC and maybe the best in CFB, very good run defense. Only real weakness is secondary.

Ole Miss - Excellent defense, good QB, good offense. Glaring weakness in kicking game.

I think if MSU and Ole Miss played 10 times, MSU wins 7 of the 10.

OM has one win, against Bama. No hate on the win, it isn't y'all's fault the media pumped up Bama needlessly. Your defense did a fine job of exposing their terrible offense.

I think it's funny that before the season we thought A&M, LSU, and Bama would all be down. Regardless of how much shite I talk about the polls, I let them convince me that those teams weren't what we expected them to be. This is the year to make noise.

I 110% agree the only reason why I think our Special Teams is slighty (like .00009%) better is that Gleeson the "Thunder from Down Under" kicks the aussie living Sh*t outta that football.

I personally think State is better. The Egg Bowl is going to be fun hopefully OM has 1 loss by then (LSU, but probably not )

We have two punters (freshman played Sat with Bell hurt), who kick the frick out of it, and punt coverage has been pretty golden. Not to mention Graham was leading the nation in punt return average, not sure if he still is.

Hard to judge though, we only punt once or twice a game.

So in this thread you have A&M and LSU fans saying State, and Alabama fans saying Ole Miss

It's funny how it works out
