Georgia got a late kickoff return to beat Florida the next week, or MSU would have won the SEC Title that year.

You aren't talking about the pass from Buck Belue to Lindsey Scott for 90+ yards, are you? I don't remember a late kickoff return.

I was at that game in Tuscaloosa in '93

I was too.

Sherman Williams off left tackle for no gain.
Sherman Williams up the middle for loss of 1.
Sherman Williams off right tack for no gain.
Repeat.

Not at all. We aren't beating Carolina. Just a fun "This Day in History."

That's because UNC isn't on the schedule. You will lose to Lesser Carolina though.

This kind of shite is why it sucks to be king for so long. You're always on the other side of "GREATEST UPSET EVAR" talk.

1993 was not Stallings's best team. Far from it, and that game had little National championship implications. They lost 2 other games that year - Auburn and Florida.

Im glad an Alabama fan posted this and not me.

I might be wrong about this, but i believe Bama may have played 3 quarterbacks in that game. Pretty sure Barker was out from the start, Burgdorf started and got hurt or just sucked, Freddie Kitchens played and sucked and finally David Palmer switched to QB and almost brought Bama back after being down 14-0.

I still think that '93 Auburn team was the best Auburn team of my lifetime. Back in the days of the dreaded no games on tv when on probation, I remember sitting in a deer stand listening to Bama lose to Auburn then not seeing any deer. My uncle woke me up the next day with James Bostic (or maybe it was Stephen Davis) on the front page of the newspaper smoking a cigar

I was 12, too. I remember that like it was yesterday.

Sounds like somebody asked Sherman Williams the wrong question.

I named my daughter's piggy bank "Curley" in honor of the day pigs flew over Tuscaloosa. It was the only moment of brightness in the depths of the despair that man delivered in abundance.

UGA had a late rd pass to Winn. Also, when I watched the game on YouTube this week they had ND listed at #1 and losing to GT.

State went 9-3 and Alabama lost another game. Sure,it was an upset, but it wouldn't make the SEC's top 20.

It's almost like Florida and Auburn were just flat out awful in 1993.

The Golden Flakes alone were worth tuning in for.

Alabama fumbled at the goal line with under a minute to go.

1993. Alabama ended up forfeiting the entire year, but LSU won 17-14 in Tuscaloosa on Stallings' best team - cost them a back to back national title. I lived in Alabama at the time. Many of wives were beat that day.

Not even close to correct.

1993 was not even close to Stallings best team, 1992, 1994, and 1991 were all better.

Alabama had already tied Tennessee two weeks previously and was already on the ropes in the national title race.

It was still a major upset as Alabama hadn't been beaten in 31 games and LSU was pretty awful that year.

But the MSU game in 1980 was a bigger upset.

Coach didn't much look like he was all that keen on them. Kinda glared at them before he commenced growling...

It's almost always listed in the top 5 or top 10 whenever somebody bothers to put together a list.

So are you implying if the stars align correctly and Mississippi State beats Carolina tomorrow morning then it will be the biggest upset in 33 years?
