Bama would have at least made one more round. That's about it.
We would have had a Washington/Michigan (or Georgia) matchup.
The end.

The "best of G5" nonsense is still going to cause controversy, but nothing like FSU this season.

Why would both Tulane and Liberty have made it?

1-4 are top 4 ranked conference champs. Washington and Bama would have slid out of top 4.
Ranking would have been:
(1) Michigan (Big 10 Champ)
(2) Texas (SEC Champ)
(3) FSU (ACC Champ)
(4) Arizona (Big 12 Champ)
Quarters matchups:
(5) Washington v. (12) Liberty
(6) Bama v. (11) Penn St
(7) UGA v. (10) Oregon
(8) Ohio State v. (9) Missouri
Ranking would have been:
(1) Michigan (Big 10 Champ)
(2) Texas (SEC Champ)
(3) FSU (ACC Champ)
(4) Arizona (Big 12 Champ)
Quarters matchups:
(5) Washington v. (12) Liberty
(6) Bama v. (11) Penn St
(7) UGA v. (10) Oregon
(8) Ohio State v. (9) Missouri

Good point forgot about only Conf champs getting a bye
But you need 6 conference champs total, you only have 5. Tulane gets the 11 spot over PSU

Have to be ranked though, so Tulane would have been out. Though I think SMU would have been in actually?

Tulane wasn't ranked - SMU is and won that conference so they'd be in over Penn State

Is that still the case with the implosion of the Pac 12?

Yeah the rule is the top 6 ranked conference champs. That hasn't been changed (yet at least)

Jake, you blew it!
Tulane did not win the AAC...SMU did...Liberty would be 12th seed since they are the 6th highest ranked conference champion...
Ole Miss would be 11th seed

the 5 seed is the place to be..
1st Round
host playoff game vs G5 opponent
Quarterfinals
play against worst P4 Champ
(likely ACC or Big 12)
That is a very nice path to the Final 4.

Were also applying 2024 conf affiliations here, SMU is ACC

Completely forgot about that change...
Tulane is still out though as unranked.

Putting so many G5 teams in is incredibly stupid and really makes the 12 team playoff pointless

Are they not going to reseed the quarters?
