Miles is probably retired and Jimbo Fisher or Ed Orgeron is coaching LSU.

Or possibly Iowa. It'd be another odd sideways career choice for him but the chance to coach at his old school would be awfully tempting for a Midwestern guy like him.

Sumlin will be fired long before 2020.

Nah, Bielema will be riding a 5 game win streak against Alabama and fending off bagmen from LSU.

I'd be kind of surprised if McElwain is still there, Muschamp left such a massive mess I think we needed to go for a big time recruiter, I think McElwain is a decent coach but more the kind of guy who could keep a top flight program moving not rebuild. That and I have concerns of whether he'll do the smart thing and lean more spread (like he did at CSU) or try and go Bama lite like Muschamp did.

Hope I'm wrong and he's airing it out in 2020, just a bit skeptical given his record as a coach.

I think Spurrier, Saban and Miles will be retired by 2020. Maybe Richt and Pinkel too, not sure how old they are. Pinkel might be AD at Mizzou.
Les might be on ESPN or SEC Network. At first thought I'd have said Saban there too, but I don't think so- Miles would own him in that arena, and I don't think Saban could handle that.

Expecting Fla to have another coach by then. Sumlin will be gone from A&M too. Probably at a smaller Texas school, or maybe somewhere as an OC.

Not sure what to make of Mullen at State; he might find a bigger program to take. Florida maybe, after they fire McElwain?

Tennessee will try hard to become stable, so I expect Butch to remain unless they re-implode.

My best guess is that Freeze and Gus will move on somewhere. Freeze- I think he fades away, Gus might go to the NFL or Oregon (Nike money coming into play).

Beleima- if Arkansas is successful, I wouldn't be shocked if he follows Saban at Bama.

I agree with this. Or I just hope it will happen just for the sake of seeing who they grabbed next. Urban Meyer anyone? lol. I don't think Bielema would go there. Scheme aside it doesn't seem like a fit. His big personality would literally make all college football fans sick in a way Saban's doesn't. I could see BB in the nfl, though.

If bielema was coach at Bama and commented about how great an arse a Dlinemen had or called Kneeling against Texas erotic the gay memes would break the internet.

I think Mullen is going to try and get out of State if he can. He tried to last Dec./Jan. when head coaching jobs opened up. I just don't know if he can land a good enough job to run from State to a better gig.

I'd be shocked if this happened.

Pinkel's pushing to get the south end zone renovated to incorporate a new football facility, so I suspect he'll stay until it's seen through to completion. After that he could go at any time.

Not sure the rest of the MU posters feel, but I see new DC Barry Odom as a tailor-made successor type with a Pinkel profile: young, energetic, with a pedigree to turn chicken shite into chicken salad.

Richt will be retired but it'd there Evil Richt unleashes his ultimate plan by becoming president of the SEC since he's such a good guy. Georgia wins the next 5 national titles and Bama is stripped of all of their national titles

Gus will never be the coach at Arkansas. We don't want him. If we did he would be here now.

He's quietly had an impressive offseason. He's been filling up the OL and addressing team needs.

I don't think you have to worry too much about the offense he wants to run. He is a west coast guy by nature and likes to sling it around. If the talent dictates that we run his Bama offense that is what he will do, but I don't think that is ultimately what he wants to build here.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and just pretend this isn't a troll attempt, or at least an attempt to get a rise out of Auburn/Arkansas fans, and answer this seriously.

If we wanted Malzahn he would most likely be here as we speak. There were a couple factors when it came to Arkansas passing him over when the position was open. First, and the biggest factor, is the division of the fanbase and boosters had he been hired. There were about 1/3rd of the major boosters and some important people pushing hard for Gus, including his small following of high school and religious fans. These people threatened all sorts of crazy actions if Gus wasn't hired, while the rest mostly sat back and were slowly turned away from the idea the more these people threatened. The board saw this happening with their small group and foresaw the major divide that would spread throughout the entire fanbase. This was all very reminiscent of a previous "home grown" hire, aka Houston Nutt.

The second factor, which didn't weigh on the situation quite as much as the first, also could be contributed to Nutt and the fact that the scars from his time had just finally healed. When a program hires someone that's considered a home grown talent, and that hire fails to some degree, it's infinitely harder to remove that person from the program because that person will always have some semblance of supporters. We saw this take shape and play out with ole Houston and didn't want to go that route again, at least any time soon.

The last major factor was the fact that he had just taken the Arkansas State job less than a year ago. Jeff Long and a majority of the board thought it wouldn't seem right to hire away the new coach at a fellow in-state school and step on their toes by doing such. 99% of the ASU fans are also fans of the Razorbacks, and the board didn't want to risk losing any amount of fans by pissing them off and forcing them to choose sides, in what most likely would've been a mess. UofA reaching out and stealing the coach away would've created attention towards the other school in the state, the one that the UofA barely acknowledges exists. This would further legitimize the ASU program.

TL;DR version: Arkansas thinks Malzahn is a good coach but didn't want to hire him because it could've made a lot of messes. Malzahn can thank Houston Nutt.
