between likely Preseason Ranked Teams:

LSU vs. Miami
Michigan vs. Notre Dame
Auburn vs. Washington
Virginia Tech vs. Florida State

A few other games worth noting...

Alabama vs. Louisville
Ohio State vs. Oregon State
Oklahoma vs. Florida Atlantic
Texas vs. Maryland
Tennessee vs. West Virginia
Ole Miss vs. Texas Tech

Overall its a pretty weak Week 1.... however I'm sure we'll all just be glad to have some football to watch.

The media will play up Michigan vs. Notre Dame as the big game of the weekend, but I think LSU vs. Miami is the best overall game.

Wait...seriously?

Will be a huge game considering how Richt did in year two.

Michigan vs. Notre Dame

...is a big rivalry game to start the season. Even if you disrespect their teams right now, any true CFB fan loves to see those helmets crashing into each other.

Auburn vs. Washington

Auburn won the West and returns its starting quarterback, receivers, and a lot of its top-tier defense. Washington is an annual threat to win the Pac 12 with Petersen as head coach. Jake Browning returns as well.

Virginia Tech vs. Florida State

Will FSU be ranked? I agree this one is meh.

Alabama vs. Louisville

Alabama might be the returning national champions, and Lamar Jackson might return. It's a Petrino-coached team, so there will always be a little intrigue there.

Tennessee vs. West Virginia

Jeremy Pruitt's debut vs. a decent team.

So there's no top five matchup, but this is a really great opening weekend for CFB.

Lamar Jackson is fantastic. The rest of the team is pretty meh. If Jackson returns it might be entertaining for a while.

Either way though, Bama will dominate the line on both sides of the ball.

Might be fun to watch if Louisville returns Lamar Jackson...

Chances of an upset in this one are probably 10-15% likely, but OU will be breaking in a new starting QB, LT, and are susceptible to spread running-based option teams. The Lane-Train could possibly spring an upset in this one...

Petrino is a good coach but Saban will wax them next year

Louisville fans think Petrino v2.0 sucks.
