2015 End of Season SEC Basketball Program Rankings

These rankings are not just of this season, but of the programs as a whole.
1. Kentucky: I don't think there are any arguments here. As much as I hate Calipari, he gets the job done.
2. Florida: Did not have a great year this year, but they have had deep tournament runs the past 4 years and Billy Donovan is one of the nation's best coaches.
3. Arkansas: Mike Anderson has really turned the program around and they have finally gotten over the lack of road wins this year. Arkansas also has great fan support for basketball that lifts it over some other SEC programs.
4. Ole Miss: Andy Kennedy gets the most out of his players and has had a few good teams the last few years. They are building a brand new arena that looks awesome. They would be ranked a little bit lower if it wasn't for the new arena.
5. LSU: Say what you want about Johnny Jones, but he is bringing in an outstanding recruiting class. He has taken LSU back to postseason play after a few terrible years before he got there. They aren't ranked higher because I don't think he will be able to get the most out of his players.
6. Vanderbilt: Kevin Stallings is an excellent X's and O's coach who has been to the tourney many times. He did a fantastic job with this year's young team and will succeed for years to come.
7. Georgia: Georgia has been pretty consistent since Mark Fox has been there. They are consistently a bubble team, but in my opinion, their ceiling as a program is pretty low. Stageman Coliseum is horrible and the fan support is not very good, but UGA continues to be decent in basketball.
8. Texas A&M: A&M has a great recruiting class coming in, but they don't seem to be able to win with talent. They haven't really shown much since they got in the SEC until this year, but they still are NIT bound. This is a pretty big year coming up for Kennedy and the Aggies.
9. Auburn: This is the most difficult team to place. They would definitely be #14 if it wasn't for the potential of the program. Bruce Pearl is a top 4 coach in the SEC and is bringing in an excellent recruiting class for 2015. The support is there and Auburn will definitely be on the rise in the coming years.
10. Tennessee: Donnie Tyndall did a lot this year for the talent level of his team, but it is difficult to rank UT higher until his NCAA issues are cleared up. Tennessee does have good potential as a program, but I am not sure how Tyndall will do with the program.
11. Alabama: Alabama has lost control of the basketball program. Bill Battle is completely butchering the entire situation with Grant. It sounds like they will keep him another year, although the big donors all want him gone. It is going to be impossible for a lame duck coach to sell his program to recruits and fans. Alabama will move up if they hire a new coach.
12. South Carolina: Frank Martin has struggled to turn the program around for 3 years. This coming up year is going to be decisive for him as it has been a while since the Gamecocks have made the tourney.
13. Missouri: This program has absolutely fallen apart after being elite a few years ago. Coaching turnover is killing Mizzou and Kim Anderson had a dreadful first season.
14. Mississippi State: Rick Ray has been terrible and they play in the worst arena in the SEC. I don't see this program improving anytime soon.

That's pretty fair.

Bama too high. Going nowhere fast with Grant and it looks like he is going to be back

I would like to invite you to watch a game at Tad Smith Coliseum.

They've been to 4 straight elite eights and went to the final four last year.

They are building a new arena, I was considering that.

On the contrary, our potential ceiling is as high/higher than any other SEC program other than kentucky. There is a sickening amount of talent in state and we have one of the best campuses in America. We obviously have never fulfilled that potential, and likely won't anytime in the next several decades, but as far as what we're capable of the sky's the limit. Our basketball program is essentially what UF football was pre-1990. All the potential in the world, just havne't had a coach stay long enough to help achieve it.

Ah, okay. Then you're spot-on.

A F4, 2 SEC titles, and an SEC tourney title. That easily puts us at #2.

not a bad list. Not sure I agree on the UGA ceiling comment, think our program is building up and with in state talent has tons of potential. Also it is Stegeman Coliseum FWIW.
Think Ole Miss is too high, not much tradition there, decent program but don't think it is that high. I would put SC higher. They can get some solid crowds, good coach, young team coming back next year, they are on the way up for sure.

South Carolina is too low. They've shown signs of improvement every year since Frank has arrived.

Auburn can climb up to that 6 spot this time next year.
We beat aTm in the SEC tourney and have a better coach.
Georgia and Vandy are Georgia and Vandy.
I'd say we'd overtake LSU next year because obviously we own them and Pearl is worlds better than Jones. But they've got some damn good players coming in and even blind squirrels find nuts

I think you're being too homerish. even with Pearl, it will take a few years to get something going.

After one, admittedly terrible, year Mizzou is the 13th best program in the SEC?
Get real.
Get real.

Missouri should be higher, they won their conference tourney in the past 4 years.

Yes. You're team is terrible and yor program is in bad shape and the turn around isn't even in sight like it is for other programs. Mizzou was brought into this conference to boost our basketball perception and yall have failed miserably. If I was the new commish Mizzou would be an arse hair away from getting booted out of the SEC at this point.
