Alabama’s Sugar Bowl loss to Oklahoma was the worst thing that could have happened to the rest of the FBS. It gave Saban a definable reason to be extra cranky this offseason. The Tide has the talent to win another national championship. It has the schedule, too, including getting Auburn at Bryant-Denny for this November’s Iron Bowl. Don’t you dare underestimate Saban or his kids. If the two-game losing is having any impact these days, it’s as a motivational tool for a team determined to erase the memory of last year’s disappointing finish.

No matter how motivated they are, what Bama does to prepare is only 50% of the equation every Saturday. Thats why there are no shoe-ins in sports.

Whatever they're doing works pretty good. Won 3 of the last 5 Natty's.

Very true and worth noting. JMHO, and we know how opinions are, but i see a shift coming in the west. Kiffen hire and bama's spring game have got to raise questions to even the most devoted bammer. I've underestimated Saban before and may be again. We shall se

If Bama was ever going to take a step back, it would be this year. Like LSU Bama will be the tits in 2015

Last time they had a two game losing streak they hadn't won anything of importance yet. Then they went on that incredible streak, but I still think these players still expect to just walk in and win. Their season will be similar to last

Saban has said he knew early last season that team had problems, attitude mostly. Understandable, it's hard to stay motivated to win 3 in a row. He likes this teams attitude much better, says it reminds him of the 2011 team.

Seems like it would be the opposite. I know I'd be hungry as hell to win 3 in a row if I were a player.

It comes with the territory, but when you win like that you're going to get some guys that just expect it to happen instead of making it happen, and that will be what ends Bama's run. That, or Saban retiring and getting a terrible replacement.

It would take a blooming idiot not to be able to hire one of the best football minds available when Nick retires. Bama will be a great situation to walk into when Nick leaves. A step back? Sure but Bama will find a great replacement for Sabam when the time comes.

Well you have one on staff with head coaching experience

Lets say Kirby gets the job. Not unreasonable to think that step up may be too much to handle, seeing how Saban has his hand in everything and probably does half or more of the defensive gameplan.

Any speculation beyond that is a shot in the dark.

Look what Muschamp did this year.
