I don't get how that's just so ridiculously world ending.

During that span, even though brief, Auburn had a 14-0 season and recently a 13-1 season. Just so happens that BOTH those years were in Alabama's down years. Which absolutely blows my mind and is a testament to how much a pesky little brother Auburn really is.

Probably the best in college football.

What?

Fact is when a good bama team faces off against a good AU team, bama is generally going to get bent and take it in the arse.

Fun facts about the Iron Bowl rivalry since 1981 (last 33 games):

- Overall record: AU 18 wins, Bama 15 wins

- AU has had 9 teams with 10 or more wins in that time... Bama didn't beat any of those 9 teams.

- Bama has had 15 teams with 10 or more wins in that time... AU beat 6 of those teams.

- The only team with a LOSING record to win the Iron Bowl since 1981 was the 1984 Bama team.

- The overall winning percentage of the AU teams that Bama beat in their 15 wins was 55%.

- The overall winning percentage of the Bama teams that AU beat in their 18 wins was 64%.

- 40% of Bama's 15 Iron Bowl wins were against AU teams with losing records.

- 22% of AU's 18 Iron Bowl wins were against Bama teams with losing records.

In other words, its more the case that Bama beats AU in AU's "down years" than the other way around.

That was the year that Pat Dye was hired and turned the AU program around from the Vandy-level program it was progressing toward.

Not really sure how that is supposed to look impressive for Auburn outside of their Super Bowl.

Bottom line, bama doesn't have the balls to beat a good AU team.Been saying that for years. Whenever they look across the field and see a good AU team, they're done. Said their lil butt would clinch up a dozen times and they would lose before last year's game.

About that 1984 game..

Dye called it his worst coaching job of his life and the only IB his team did not play hard in. They thought they would just blow out bama without trying, but bo going the wrong way on the 1 yard line and 3 easy field goals missed including the game winner was a bit much.

We'll handle bama in turdland this year. We will have a good team and they will fold.
