Yea I can't buy LSU as top 5 in the preseason on offense. As much as people hated JJ, he was a 3 year (2 1/2 sorta) starter. And...they had no first downs in the 1st half of the SECCG and got shut out in the NCG.

I think they're a top...30 offensive unit not top 3

They're just assuming Mettenrapist will be really good, but no one knows that yet. This is pure conjecture, and it's worth less than a truckload of dead rats in a tampon factory.

LSU moved the ball all over the field against every opponent last year except us. Alabama's defense was arguably the greatest in this era. So why would we point to the BCS championship game as a measure of their offense?

They had a good offense last year. From all accounts, they improved at the QB position and most of the talented players are back. I can see them at #2.

And all it takes is one injury, and USC drops from #1 to out of the top 20.

Same for LSU, their backup is a redshirt freshman with no experience. Bolden is worse than JJ.

They were 57th in total offense last year; I know they shut it down in the 4th quarter in a lot of their games but let's not act like they were world beaters.

They were efficient and had great field position from D and special teams. They were not always great at sustaining longer drives

So they're basically throwing darts at a board.

You are completely right. They should base it purely on who will average the most points and put Boise State as number one.

You must have missed the part where Les Miles refused to put in our backup after Jordan Jefferson practically kept giving the ball to bama

If you take out the two Alabama games and re-average it, I'll wager they are much higher than 57th last year (despite playing mop-up in the 4th in most of their games).

And if LSU plays loses their QB, their rushing game will still win them at least 8-9 games. Not so with USC.

Brandon Allen, and he's better than anyone on LSU's roster, save Molestenberger.
