We have Aycock, McCalleb, Dyer, Smith, Fannin and a rushing threat at QB, regardless of who wins the job.

The running game is the least of our worries....for that matter, offense is the least of our worries.

If you want to see our weakness, just look to the thin defensive line and linebacking corps....if the Freshmen perform like bammers '08 frosh did, we'll be fine.

So, we'll be fine because our guys are better than theirs.

Yeah, and Ben Tate still couldn't beat him out (or even get himselof considerded).

Your right, a typo on a sports board speaks volumes about both my intelligence and level of education

Yes, really. It was an arrogant comment made by a guy who was mad a better running back was justly getting more press than him. By the way, what was your prediction for Bama this past season and in the SECCG? How'd those predictions work out for you?

Check Chris Low's blog when he was in Auburn a couple weeks ago. He has a video interview with Fannin and he said he weighs about 235 right now and plans to play somewhere around 230/235.

He's also as fast as Tate, if not faster. Tate ran a 4.43, not a 4.34. If he ran a 4.34 at 220, you'd have heard alot more about it.

Fannin has had some issues with fumbling, but he seems to be doing better with that as Luper said he didn't have a single fumble in all of spring practice. Give Fannin the bulk of the carries and I think he ends up as one of the top 3 or 4 RB's in the SEC. He did avg 8.4 yards a carry when he got the ball last year and 9.8 yds a catch.

Clearly Fannin is the better player....

which is why he started in place of Tate last year...

oh wait....

Fannin was too much of a great athlete to be JUST a running back. That's why he was a starting reciever and back up running back.

Fannin may be awesome at his hybrid position, but he won't be as good at RB as Tate was last year.

76 touches, 709 yards, 3 TD which is pretty darn good as a hybrid guy although you'd like to see more TDs.

But....
0 rushing TD

Quarterbacks - Meh.. Could be an upgrade, could be a down grade. Cam certainly adds more playmaking ability to the position and Chrissy did terrible aginst SEC teams so we'll see..

Running Backs - Upgrade. Even though we lost the best running back in the state..lol. Fannin, Dyer, and Ayecock will be plenty good. If Fannin can stay healthy he'll certain;y get over 1,000 yards for the season and i can see Dyer being used like Trent Richardson was his freshman season.

Wide Receivers - Upgrade. All recievers returned, nuff said. Darvin, Zachery, Benton, Blake, Q Carr, and not to mention all the freshman coming in. (Trovon Reed, Shaun Kitchens, Antonio Goodwin)

Offensive Line - Upgrade. Four seniors returning and adding a JUCO right tackle should make this line a great one.

Defensive Line - Meh.. Loses Antonio Coleman but adds more depth and gets faster. Nick Fairly is a beast in the middle and Antoine Carter coming off the edge should remind some of Groves and Coleman.

Linebackers - Upgrade. No loses in the linebackers group. Bynes, Stevens, and Eltoro/Evans should be a good core. A bunch of freshman are coming in to add much needed depth.

Secondary - Much improved. Aairon Savage and Mike McNeil return this season. Neiko Thorpe and Demond Washington at corner and T Bell in the nickel. Daren Bates will play a hybrid safety/linebacker role and Zac Etheridge could be back from the neck injury that occured during the Ole Miss game last year.

ST's - Upgrade. Wes Byrum, nuff said. Was perfect on PAT's last year and only missed one field goal. Demond will be returning kicks. The only issue will be punt returner. Hopefully someone can hold on to the ball this year.

QB - Small Upgrade - Todd was not very good, but was experienced
RB - Downgrade - Loss of Tate is a downgrade
WR - Upgrade - More experience and depth
OL - Upgrade - More experience and JUCO help
DL - Small upgrade - More depth
LB - Upgrade - More experience, more depth.
DB - Upgrade - We get some guys back from injury and have more depth
ST - Upgrade. Our kicking teams will have less walkons and a better returner.

Overall, we should have a better, deeper team without a doubt.

Bottom line, we lost very little talent and added significant depth - both in recruiting and additional experience.

My take, Auburn could definitely be the most improved team in the SEC West this year. I think we have a very tough game on The Plains this fall.

I wish I had recorded your spring game this past weekend, I want to see if Cam Newton can be a break out player for Auburn. If so, it could be vey interesting.

I think this season, the West will be full of surprises and could come down to the last weekend to see who wins it. (Bama will be tough, LSU will be improved, Auburn will be improved and I hope Arkansas will too).

They didn't showcase him much, kinda like Fannin.

That is a concern.

Had to go through it last year too.

i just noticed, the first 3 games in 14 days? damn. although, i see where 6 out of the first 8 are are home + Arky St. and ULM (you talk about awful this yr.) shouldn't be too much more than scrimmages. add in UT-Chatt...it might not be too bad w/the dead-legs playing GA., before the bye.

be interesting to how many reps Chiz get's some of the back-ups early on.

And Trent Richardson is better than Ingram, which is why he started over him last year. Oh wait...

Tate had much more experience than Fannin(due to Tuberville benching him from fumbling the ball) and Fannin was coming off a pretty serious shoulder injury so they wanted to take him away from taking a pounding on that shoulder. Now it's Fannin's turn to tote the rock. I honestly wish they would have given him more chances last year because I do think he's a better back than Tate. My biggest knock on Tate is that he went down too easy sometimes. He wasn't afraid to lower his shoulder and take someone on, but if someone caught a foot/leg, it was almost assured he was going down. Tate ran hard, but there were times that it seems like he went down way too easily. It's very rare that you see Fannin go down easily. He almost always has to be dragged down by more than 1 defender or run out of bounds.

Hell yeah. I hope that if they do re-arrange bama's schedule, we somehow get an open date at about week 7 or 8. I think it would be much better for us to have an off week either between Ark/LSU or LSU/Ole Miss. I'd much rather have that than have to go 11 straight.
