Do you even Kiffin, bro? No defense and both teams were total garbage.
Rocky Block is the best game in the series.

Alabama was garbage but Tennessee sure wasn't. They finished the regular season with only two losses. And both teams struggled on offense for the longest time in this game. The score was 20-20 at the end of regulation.

It was an amazing game...thought Bama pulled it off before that 4th and 17. My freshman year at UT and we had a blast that night!

These were bad days.
When we started hearing rumblings of wrongdoing within the Bama program in 2000 it killed recruiting. THen we had the schollie limits for 2001,02,03 that set us back until around 2007 when we finally got back to full 85 players and most of those were probation recruits who couldnt play. I've always said Sabans best coaching job at Bama was 2007. That was a 4 or 5 win team and we won 7 and probably would have one more without the suspensions following the UT game. Had some big wins against much more talented teams like UT 41-17. Near misses against Georgia n OT and eventual national champ LSU. Ugly loss vs Monroe and blowout by Auburn but you could tell Saban had us moving in the right direction.
Somebody had the Georgia game on the other day from 03 and I didnt even watch it as I knew it would be a slaughter.
Funny thing said by Franchione when lining up against UT in 01. He said both teams came on the field and he said I looked at Tennessee's players and looked at ours and thought, we have no business playing them
He was right. Watching warmups it was not whether UT would win but by how much back then. Fulmer had a great program and we were wallowing in mud with guys that frankly had no business plying SEC ball. I remember getting a tailback named Ken Darby who we beat Jax State out for in recruiting and it was a last minute decision on his part to de-commit from JSU and come to Bama. Bad, bad days.
Couldnt believe we almost pulled this one out. We wound up 4-9 that 03 season and I cant believe we won 4.

Just rewatched it, man forgot how many boneheaded things TN did that would have gave Bama the W but Shula boneheaded it even worse...he really was Bama's Dooley.

Yes you truly do throw out the record books in this rivalry.

This game also reminded me how bad arse of a weapon Dustin Colquitt was that season.
Dude very well may have been the team MVP that season.

God dang I'm glad those days are over.
Any Bama fan pissing at Saban for 2014 should be forced to re-watch every game from 2000-2006.

Best one in my lifetime. Regardless of outcome, what a hard fought game by both teams.
