Noticed something strange this year. As usual, there were a lot of players drafted from "the South." But unlike usual, the majority of these players did not play in the SEC.
Gulf Coast West 2* Cedric Ogbuehi , Malcolm Brown
Gulf Coast East 3 Dante Fowler, Jr., Nelson Agholor, Damarious Randall
South Atlantic 4 Amari Cooper, Leonard Williams, Ereck Flowers, Phillip Dorsett
Mid Atlantic 1 Todd Gurley
Deep South (Interior South) 7 Jameis Winston, Vic Beasley, Cameron Erving, Bud Dupree, DJ Humphries, Breshad Perriman, Stephone Anthony
Mid South (Interior North) 1 DaVante Parker
*For La'el.

Not really all that unusual, most of the ones who didnt went fsu and miami. Just shows how deep the state of florida is.

That's 8 players on my list who didn't go to FSU or Miami. I'm sure you can make specific arguments about specific players: DaVante Parker is a Louisville kid. Nelson Agholor isn't really from Tampa. Breshad Perriman was a sleeper. Malcolm Brown went to in-state Texas.
But that only accounts for half of those 8. You still have a few guys who went to schools like USC, Arizona State and Clemson, and that's the part that's different.

I know it doesn't matter now but Leonard and Agholor were supposed to be Gators. Leonard told Muschamp he was coming the night before NSD, but Monte Kiffin obviously sold him on something at the last minute for USC. Both Parker and Perriman were sleepers. Still though, your point still stands.

North Carolina as the "mid atlantic"? Wouldn't South Atlantic be a better fit?
