GOR is till 2026/2027 and I would change difficult to 'not going to happen'.
True, but we could see movement in the years before the GORs end. Technically movement can happen as soon as a program is willing to forgo or buy back its media rights. With ten years left on the deal, no one can afford to do that today- we would be talking hundreds of millions as a starting point for Big 12 or ACC teams. Even if negotiated down that is still too much.
But in a decade when a negotiated settlement is closer to 60 or 70 million movement may begin. As we saw last round when someone wants to move they are willing to pay extra to do it early. Also we learned that once a plan is in place sometimes a conference will cut a deal to accelerate the plans and move on with life.
But we are a ways out from that happening.

its mind boggling how many people here still seem to think that FSU and Clemson are SEC expansion targets.

Gotcha, and true. A negotiated deal would be most likely since (I think I understand this right) to enforce contract in civil court would require a lawsuit against the State. And like you say, a move a couple of years prior to 2026 isn't nearly as severe as a move right now.

Tennessee could still play Alabama if Bama's two permanent rivals are LSU and Tennessee.

You can have a 4 team playoff for the SEC title. Or you could just make it simpler and take the two teams with the best strength of schedule.

Why add FSU? We already have a Florida team.
The win is to add a NC and a Va team.
The way media rights work, the SEC would be moronic to add a team from a state that already has SEC footprint representation.

So...an SEC team would have to play 16 games to win the MNC while a team from another conference would have to play 15?

I don't know if people are uneducated with the circumstances surrounding the conference those two teams are currently in, or if people are just throwing shite up against the wall?

No need to realize the error of his ways.
We all know that FL and TN are cyclical and equal overall.
Just ask Bama.

I didn't mean to hurt your feelings, but if you are a diehard Vol fan, you're aged enough over the last seven years to handle it.

1) The premise can't happen because of the ACC GOR pretty much precludes the SEC or other conferences poaching their teams for another ten years.
2) If the SEC poached a couple teams they would be very unlikely to add FSU but more likely to add a team from NC and a team from VA. The ideal two to add would be NC and Virginia but Va Tech would be an acceptable substitute.
3) If the SEC added two more teams after teh GOR expired they would need to balance the divisions by spreading out the best teams (big six plus maybe Va Tech and A&M) into four different divisions and by spreading out the four worst teams (Vandy, MSU, KY, Ole Miss) into four different divisions.
In keeping with that a more plausible four division conference would be (permanent out of division opponent in parentheses selected to equalize the schedules by pairing teams of historically even strength):
SEC SW:
LSU (Florida)
A&M (Va Tech)
Arkansas (Missouri)
Ole Miss (MSU)
SEC Central:
Alabama (Tennessee)
Auburn (UGA)
Missouri (Arkansas)
MSU (Ole Miss)
SEC NE:
Tennessee (Alabama)
Va Tech (A&M)
North Carolina (USC)
Vanderbilt (Kentucky)
SEC SE:
Florida (LSU)
Georgia (Auburn)
South Carolina (NC)
Kentucky (Vanderbilt)

Yes, that all makes sense, but dollars is all the SEC is after.
They don't care about the sacrifice athletes make, their pursuit of a championship, etc.
Bridge schedules ad infinitum.
With equality, the conference loses power and control.
