Why did everyone at LSU call Anthony Johnson, "Freak?"

Monte Kiffin gave him that nickname early in his HS career. When the Kiffins were at Tenn. It stuck.

Pretty sure someone else started calling him this in high school

I knew that, I was wondering why it continued.

I'd say this year's draft is a bad sign for Nick Marshall.

If Murray, McCarron, and Mettenberger slid then he's probably not going to hear his name called. Unless he starts kissing men on live tv.

There are a lot of ways this post makes no sense.

Nick Marshall can be drafted as an athlete, a la Armanti Edwards and Pat White. Keep in mind, even Logan Thomas was drafted this year...

Logan Thomas has elite measurables and is a smart guy. He's got ~Top 10 natural athletic ability, hence why he was drafted even though he's a complete mess.

To be honest if Nick Marshall didn't sound borderline illiterate I'd be pretty confident saying that he'd be drafted as a project QB due to his plus arm, athletic ability, and competitiveness. Unfortunately he probably isn't articulate/smart enough to sell himself as a QB to NFL execs.

Benardrick Mckinney is a top 10 overall pick in some mocks. Not sure why he wasn't on this list

Logan Thomas is a great example of why many people think Jacob Coker will be a NFL draft pick. He was horrid at Virginia Tech and regressed each year. Yet, measurables still got him drafted.

Coker is 6-5 235 and will be surrounded by great coaches, not to mention immense offensive talent. I think he's at least 4-7 round talent. Further development is just a plus for Alabama moving forward.

Probably J Rasco from LSU, but that might be it. All of our best players won't be draft eligible.

eta - Lael Collins too

He'll never run 40 yards in a college or pro game

Because he had freak measurables as a HS DT, and was incredibly quick and athletic. He broke the national sack record and in one of the hardest classifications in LA.

He sucks because he didn't have the killer instinct that elite players need, and relied on athleticism instead of technique.

He will certainly be one of the most talked about in the draft. That's what the article is about anyway. I doubt he gets drafted above the 5th round, even if he is more productive.

Meh, they make these early list every year and after next season they always look different so I will wait until mid season for the accurate one

Coach O or Monte Kiffin gave him the nickname at a TN camp. Again, it's a nickname given to the player.

Coker will end up getting the Bortles treatment when he goes out. That plus the Bama bump. He's probably a better athlete than Bortles too. But before anyone loses their shite, we're not saying we've got a first round QB. We're saying he has a shite ton of potential. Potential he'll probably never live up to at Alabama.

Which is why he should have declared this year.

Why would he do that, when he could come back another year, improve his draft stock, contend for the SEC/National Championship, and graduate from college?

Nick Marshall would have been an idiot to leave after 2013.

centers don't go high unless they can play other positions and so far reese has not. So not sure we will be talking about him. Mid round pic?
