World Cup
Iron Bowl
Kentucky Derby
Superbowl
Final Four
Masters
Daytona 500
NHL Winter Classic
World Series
Wimbledon
Only College football game on this list....
Iron Bowl
Alternates between Auburn and Tuscaloosa, Ala.
Although the sports world is full of bitter rivalries, there's perhaps none more heartfelt than the annual Thanksgiving weekend match-up between the University of Alabama and cross-state rival Auburn University."It shows how important football is in that part of the country. I've never experienced anything like it, and how it divides not just the entire state, but families," Tuchman says. While the first game dates to the late 19th century, Both teams have been nationally ranked in recent years, making the showdown even more dramatic.rolltide.com/sports/m-footbl and auburntigers.com
Bucket list tip: Don't miss the pre-game tailgating, a spectacle in itself. "This event is all about the atmosphere and tenacity of the rivalry. Although the game is the must see, it's really the pre game tailgate where all the fun is happening."

It's on the bucket list because it's just an anthropological wonder.

Of those listed, I'm only interested in the World Cup, Iron Bowl, Winter Classic, Final Four, and the Super Bowl (depending on who plays at halftime).

The NHL, Iron Bowl and Daytona 500 are on there but nothing from the Olympics is? That author needs to be kicked in the nuts

Georgia and Florida when both have good teams is as good as college football gets. I have only been to Jax for the game once, but it was wild.
Gumps and Barners have nothing on the WLOCP and the game either.

The Winter Classic is better than anything the Olympics can offer.

Do you not consider horse racing a sport, or are you intimidated by all the well heeled spectators?

Meh. I've been to 2 of them and there was nothing special about it, nothing more so than any other big time SEC game that is.

True. At least the IB is in a great location this year, though.

2002, unfortunately. And, to quote the world's best known Gump, "That's all I have to say about that."

What do you consider it then? It's not a game like golf or checkers.

Fair enough. But it's a pretty great activity.

I'd personally leave off the Olympics and the World Cup simply because there's far too wide a range of possible venues. At least with stuff like the Superbowl or the Final Four, you can get a reasonable amount of consistency, allowing you to say it's likely to be a good/bad experience. With these international events, you can have insanely variegated experiences depending on what country is hosting. So it's harder to predict how good/bad it will be ahead of time.

Gambling? I don't know what I would call it. No different than greyhound racing to me and I don't consider it a sport. Only difference is you throw a person on the the back of a horse and not the dog.
