Just like back in the BCS days. It was interesting last year how the playoff system seemed immediately validated by an eventual champion ranked #4 by the playoff committee. Yet here we are again with #1 vs. #2.

But were the rankings far off from reality last year? Certainly Ohio State was the #1 team, but who was really the second best team? Oregon, who entered the playoffs as #2, or Alabama, who entered as #1?

What say the rant?

I mean there were those who said the committee the games so we would get an OU/Bama final.

It's more valid now for sure, since you have to win 2 games, often against two different types of teams. OSU beat Bama/Oregon last year with totally different styles, while Clemson or Bama will have beaten one traditional offense and one spread offense.

I like it

But why so much trust in a committee when every little thing the computers did under a magnifying glass.

I personally believe in a 5 year segments #1 vs #2 will be the likely outcome 3 to 4 times because generally 2 teams are better. However, it is that 1 to 2 years where the brand schools have picked up titles when another team was actually better. It was ironic that last year that other school was also a brand.
