If 3.2 is the number, than Wichita State will finally know that the Koch brothers have a conservative limit in what they'd spend to see WSU's program hold firm (or grow). These guys are approaching 100 billion combined, and they have incentivized Marshall's tenure since the beginning. I would have figured someone would have to come in north of 5 per year to make them fold.
Great get for Bama. Top 5 money for a top 5 coach, imho.

My bad, I didn't specify "top 5 in conference"

The offer from Bama is 4.2M for 6 years. Gregg has till Friday to decide.

$3.2M aint getting this to "done deal" point. Also, I heard last week that talks with his agent had already landed at 6 years for $25M.
3.2 m for 6 years would be 19.2, not inc bonuses, personal appearances etc

Followed back up with the person with me when I was told 3.2 for 6 years, she said no the person said 4.2.
Well I am old and I guess now deaf.

Thanks for the update.
I dunno about Marshall but I do hope Bama lands someone good. SEC WBB has benefited greatly from having a strong conference and it's wayyyyyy past time our men's teams do so as well. It's not like we don't have the money. A strong conference gets us all more tourney spots and does it regularly.

I'd put Self and Williams over two of those and I can't stand UNC.

Do bammers think they are hurting my feelings by pointing out Auburn sucks ? I am realistic enough to know this. I am skeptical of them becoming truly elite even under Pearl.
Too bad bammers aren't more realistic about their basketball program. Oh yeah, those 20 NCAA appearances don't even put bama in the top 40 nationally

We were there last year when we were trying to find a coach. No idea how this year went so smoothly. Maybe it's all the practice we have when it comes to hiring new coaches.

With the money that is being mentioned, I don't understand why bama isn't going after a bigger name than Marshall. For that kind of money, I would make Mark Few turn me down several times first. The same goes for Shaka Smart. I could go on, but........

Marshall would be a much better hire than Shaka Smart IMO.

Well, you cannot really blame him. He has the leverage right now.

Shaka is much younger and I think he would be able to recruit better athletes because of the style he plays. Just my opinion.

We don't know what has been discussed and with whom...but you don't want ESPN to be reporting that your first choice is Mark Few if you don't realistically think you'll get him, because then you've told the world that you are "settling" for anyone else.
