Honest question -
Why does regular season determine Championship? It determines seeding in the conference tourney, fine, but why wouldn't said tournament determine the conference Champion?

Because it's a larger sample size and you play more teams. The game is about matchups. For instance, Florida is a terrible matchup for LSU and it just so happens that was who we played. LSU would have had a much better a shot of advancing if that game was with anyone else. Winning 16 games is better than winning 3.
Just to be clear, I don't consider LSU conference champs in baseball if we only win the tournament.
