Recently Ben Shapiro and Larry Fink have both come out and said retirement at 65 is crazy. They say it's gonna put too much of a strain on the system with people living so much longer. What they fail to mention is the tremendous strain people who have never contributed a dime to, but collect from social security. How about we put a little more pressure on the deadbeats instead of telling the working man he just needs to give a little bit more.....

The purpose of gooooooooooooooooooberment is to take every advantage it can away from the people. SS was nothing but the 1st carrot that has been used for less than 1 century to destroy this country. Lot's of carrots out there now.

How soon will they be taken away?

Unless you work a physically intensive job most of your life. At some point your body starts breaking down.

I'm a ways out from collecting on SS so I won't claim to be an expert, but doesn't your payment depend at least in part on how much you've worked through your life? The guy with large swathes of unemployment is getting less per month than the guy who's worked since he was 16. If I'm off base can someone explain it better for me?

Congress just has to remove funding from government contracts to Little Ben's billionaire masters and Larry Fink Blackrock companies.

Raising the SS benefit age is tantamount to increasing taxes and growing government. Why would anyone try and make it easier for the federal government? Congress made it's promise, appropriate funding as promised. Sorry for Larry Fink's and Little Ben's billionaire handlers government contracts.

Yeah. I'm not in Social Security, but there's a reason that cops and firemen retire relatively young. At 50, just keeping up with the training takes a toll on my body now.

You also have a large group of illegals working with fake SSN's paying into the system and never able to draw off of it. The government keeps 100% of their tax withholdings without any reason for them to file a return, because they can't file a return with their fake SSN. That's why the government doesn't go after them either for not filing their tax return, more money for them. The smarter illegals just plan for the least amount of withholdings they can.

Also, anyone born after 1980 knows not to rely on social secuity, as we have known for a long time that the baby boomers and Gen X will eat up most of the money before we get to retire. We've been saving for a long time knowing this.

Like the Trillions of dollars sent to Ukraine doesn't stress the system...that money would have been better spent on shoring up social security.

But then again our DC swamp politicians wouldn't be able to get their kickbacks as easily.

Coming from a guy that has never done any real work a day in his life.......bumping his gums at a high rate of speed is not work.

The Social Security Program is a decent retirement plan funded through employee-employer contributions. It is administered by the govenment - therein lies the root cause of the S/S crisis - the government.

Woke programs such as, Welfare-Food Stamps-Free Housing and Medicaid are all fine, never having been paid into by participants. Complete Government giveaways.
But the program that has been funded by participants and pillaged by the lying political non contributors is going broke.
If you believe this you are working for the woke agenda.

Not for educated males in white/gray collar occupations. Men in this category can easily live to 85 or longer. Their spouses even longer than that.

If there is one thing that elected bodies are terrible at (and there are many), it's making good long-term decisions.

Social Security is not an exception...it's the main example.

(along with deficit spending of which SS is just a subclass)

The Govt only runs out of money when its asked to pay back working folks their original investment at a 2% ROI. It seems like every program except defense should take a backseat to SS. That needs to be paid first, the rest are just peripheral programs.
