It's that time of the year again, fellas (and ladies). For a second straight year, we discuss who will take over as Alabama's starting quarterback. To the dismay of some Alabama fans, Blake Sims won the competition last year over Jacob Coker, who was the definite favorite after transferring in from Florida State.

Will Jacob Coker finally live up to the hype train opposing fanbases laughed about? Will one of the young 5* prospects jump into the fold, Blake Barnett or David Cornwell? Will there be a major upset in the form of Alec Morris or Cooper Bateman? Who do you expect to win this year and why, SECRant?

Contestants
Jacob Coker
Alec Morris
Blake Barnett
David Cornwell
Cooper Bateman

IMO, David Cornwell wins the competition, but I am hoping for Jacob Coker.

BONUS QUESTION: How many butt-slaps will we get to witness?

My favorite thing about Blake was that he was a 5th yr senior

those are rare

I don't give a shite what color our quarterback is as long as he doesn't turn the ball over. Seriously. That's all you need to do as a Bama quarterback. Just don't get in our offense's way and we'll probably win.

A lot of the hype for coke last year was media guys. Sure plenty of UA fans were premature praising him, but we can't help it if he's put on heisman, and draft lists. Jimbo and the media sold him hard last spring. Some Bama fans ate it up, some didn't.

As for this season, I have no clue. My guess doesn't mean shite. I thought we would lose 4 games with Blake as our QB. My opinion is worthless.

Cornwell and Morris have looked the best so far according to the info I've gathered.

Havent heard anybody with a lot of praise for Coker this spring.

Cornwell
IMO, he's the best bet for Alabama's offense of the near future, which is why I would prefer Jacob Coker start. I'd rather Alabama have another 1 year guy at quarterback versus someone who will start 2-3 years in a row.

Aside from who we hope wins the job, I think you're spot on.

Unless Coker's vastly superior to Cornwell, going with the guy that will be there for the long haul makes far more sense to me.

Yeah, to me, the only possible advantage Coker has over Cornwell is that Coker is more athletic and a better runner. Coker can pick up some good yards with his legs. Not sure that Cornwell could do the same, especially after coming off a couple leg injuries.

But as far as their arms go, both have cannons. Cornwell has a much better delivery though. Coker has a slow release.

I believe it will come down to a Coker vs Cornwell battle. But one HS coach told me that Morris looked the best at our first scrimmage. I've heard lots of good things about Barnett but everyone believes he needs to gain about 20 pounds before he's ready for the SEC. Bateman has already started moonlighting as a receiver.

If Coker wins the competition that will mean he's better than Cornwell, so I don't follow your logic.

He's been gaining steam lately. And word is Barnett looks legit, but is too thin. Would get destroyed in SEC play right now.

Long story short, we stacked, y'all fricked, etc

If Coker's better than Cornwell, one might assume that means that Alabama's offense will be directed this season by a slower Blake Sims and then have yet another new starter in 2016.

Both of those are good things if you're an Aubie...

that's not really a good description of Coker at all.

I wish it was Barnett, but I doubt he will be ready. I hope Cornwell is what people seem to think he is.

It sounds like Coker is just kind of stupid. That kind of stuff is not going to help the trust factor, and if he can't be trusted Saban ain't gonna play him.

Based on discussions with people and reading a lot of stuff about his progression last fall and this spring. Stupid may be a tad harsh, but apparently he just isn't real quick witted when it comes to the playbook, reads, etc.

Barnett neeeds a year in the weight room but will be the starter when he's ready.
As far as this year most any of those listed could win 10 games.
