Does SEC basketball have more star head coaches than football?

Basketball has two coaches with national titles in Calipari and Donnovan.

It also has Pearl, Barnes, Anderson, and Howland that have great tournament resumes and conference titles to their credit. Then there are great recruiters like Jones and Billy Kennedy who could break through soon. And let's not forget Andy Kennedy at Ole Miss and Frank Martin at USCe. Both are very capable coaches. I would also be remissed not to mention Avery Johnson. He's an unknown, but has a solid resume as a NBA coach.

Football, while the bell cow of the SEC, has six current coaches with a conference or national title. The list only grows to seven when you include major bowl appearances. There's not much after that for the sake of a resume.

That would be Nick Saban, Les Miles, Mark Richt, Steve Spurrier, Gus Malzahn, and Bret Biliema with conference and/or national titles. Dan Mullen has a major bowl appearance.

So I would argue that it's more top heavy in football but more depth in basketball as it stands right now.
