Damn man, you don't need UCLA prestige or the talent Howland had in '08 to get deep into the tourney. Hell we beat y'all with the second worst team we've had in two and a half decades. We will get back to the tourney and with Howland at the helm.

shoe company camp circuits have knocked it down to 3rd tier
And where do these shoe company camps see these players first?

AAU rules all. It's where players are seen by coaches, camp organizer, analysts, ect. All recruiting runs through AAU.

I would certainly be surprised if we made the NCAAt, but we won 13 games this past season. I don't think it's crazy to think Malik and Kasongo along with everyone returning that we could be 7 or 8 wins better. That would put us around the bubble depending on our wins and losses.

We could make the tourney next season with those two guys added and our best returning players. OM made it with less talent.

Why do y'all think Ray Kasongo is going to be an impact player? He's a tremendous athlete, but it's gonna take awhile before he's ready to take on a serious role. He could definitely become a very good player, but it won't be next year. I mean he just finished a season where he averaged just 6.5 points and 4.8 rebounds for Idaho Community College.

Nevermind. I'm not arguing with you about who's going to the tournament next year. No one knows. We haven't even made it to the NBA draft deadline yet, so acting like you know who will and won't make it next year is ridiculous.

he didn't say that verbatim, but he implied that it's an MSU-Kentucky race, which is bullshite

I posted exactly what the man posted on 24/7. I know what he didn't say. You're the one going around putting words in his mouth.

But to say State and Kentucky are the two leaders for Newman doesn't match everything that's been said prior to Howland.

Well you know, when a new coach is hired, things change.

Just sounds like he's baiting for more memberships, which is common practice in that field of work

That's fricking rich coming from someone that bases their entire opinion around a guys CB that works for the very same network. What do you think he's doing? Being completely unbiased and just telling you the truth?

He is one and done man. It is LSU o Kansas. We are only it the game because we ae preseason top ten maybe. Sorry he isn't interested in rebuilding anyone's program

I'd love for it to happen obviously but Coach Jones has a lot to prove before that talk is even considered. I like the direction he has the program going but the man needs to learn how to draw up plays out of timeouts and strategize when the game is close at the end.

This. I would be surprised if we make it to the sweet 16 next year. JJ will find ways to lose us a few games we shouldn't you can bank on that.

Right, State fans sound like the kids going to look for nice off campus housing and map out his next 4 years in starkville lol. In 4 years Malik will be in his 3rd season in the NBA, I doubt he'd be interested in helping build your program where he would most likely have to play max minutes and be subject to double teams due to the lack of talent around him. You just aren't built for that caliber player right now

There won't be a melt....

Even in the off chance LSU doesn't land him, the fan base won't melt. He'd be icing on the cake for a top 5 class. With Newman it would push LSU to the #1 class in the nation. We return ALL our guards, but a true PG to lead the team will shore up what is going to be a top 15 team right off the bat.

So do you really think an LSU melt will occur?

State is a bubble team at best, so I don't understand the desire to expedite rebuilding state when he could make a big run elsewhere.

He's a State basketball legacy, not a Duke basketball legacy

This is now the 5th time he's changed his prediction on Malik Newman. 247 might need to cap the number of prediction an analyst can make.

he's still one of the very few guys who actually has solid recruiting ties, so I'm not going to take his prediction as a "grain of salt"

Now I want Newman and Sampson
