The kids is obviously a 1 and done player. And while he may like state, and getting Howland helps yall in the long run, Miss St is more than 1 Player from being a team that can compete. Hes gonna want to go where he can play, win, play in the tourney and get to the NBA. And while I think LSU has a great shot, especially with Simmons and Blakeney, if he doesn't end up here it will either be UK or KU, not Moo U

Lol without Newman, we beat your best team in what a decade? I mean seriously this thread is pure GOLD and thank you so much Memphis and you others for participation. Exactly why I posted it.

You've been owned at every turn in this thread. Literally every little fact or jab you've thrown out has been disproven and refuted. Good job hiring a coach who couldn't win a national championship with Kevin Love and 4 other NBA starters. People accuse JJ of underachieving, but what Howland failed to do with that team is criminal. He had 2 top 15 NBA players and 2 solid NBA starters and couldn't win a championship. Inexcusable. I shudder to think how horrible he's going to be at CowBell U.

but help LSU to another Final Four, and possibly a NC

Like your enthusiasm but whoa there. I guess the term possibly covers you because anything could be 1% possible but pump the brakes.

I'd love for it to happen obviously but Coach Jones has a lot to prove before that talk is even considered. I like the direction he has the program going but the man needs to learn how to draw up plays out of timeouts and strategize when the game is close at the end.

3 consecutive final 4's is underachieving. Wow I've heard it all. You missed the point pal, I'm glad to get all of these adamant responses about the likely hood of Malik to LSU. Just what I wanted to hear. Do you really think I'm going to give responses to all of what memphis says? No. Malik is now on the clock. He gets a visit from Howland tonight.

Oh and Howland > Jones

And it's not even close.

So he's the king of getting the bronze medal with a team full of future hall of famers. Can you please tell me what happened after Love and Westbrook left? Oh wait, I remember. They got eliminated from the first round 4 years in a row. So basically Howland is absolute shite without a loaded team.

In a bigger sample size, he won the Pac 10 in his final year. Speaking of choking first round, you LSU fans look for certain to have you a one and done type coach. Biggest choke job I have ever seen.

Howland is exactly like Johnny Jones.

Great recruiter below average coach. Only problem is he'll never get the kind of talent he had at UCLA to MSU. Hell he'll never get the talent Johnny Jones is getting at LSU to MSU.

LOL @ not winning a championship with Kevin Love, Russell Westbrook, Daren Collison, Mbah a Moute and Josh Shipp on it.

And he got eliminated in the first round of the NCAAT. I know it's a hard concept for MSU fans to wrap their minds around given your school's complete lack of postseason success in any sport, but the regular season really doesn't matter for shite. But it's okay, y'all hired a has been of a coach who hasn't done anything of note in 8 years.

Reading the MSU board they're all giddy that Newman started following Kasongo.

Guess what school most recently, as of 3/24 only a day before Martin announcing, offered Kasongo?

Put pieces together yourself, State fans.

He's still a deep LSU lean with Kentucky and Kansas also possible. MSU flunked out of the Malik Newman sweepstakes when they failed to put together a competitive team this year. Say what you want about LSU losing to shite teams and going out in the first round but the fact of the matter is they made the tournament and that's HUGE to the one-and-done players. There's no chance Malik Newman will go to MSU because he wants to be a lottery pick after one year, and that's much harder when your team plays .500 basketball and doesn't play on national TV ever.

Exactly, because of Simmons LSU will be on national TV a lot. That's exposure for him and his surrounding cast. If Newman signs it won't just be Simmons it will be about LSU's trio and the #1 ranked class. That's exposure and publicity that will elevate their position in the draft and lottery the following year.

If UK and Kansas aren't open, it's a no brainer situation for Malik to pick LSU.

The team was very top-heavy this year. A lot of the stupid collapses that were seen this year weren't as much of an indictment of Jones as they were a result of guys making mistakes who had played 35 minutes of the 40 minute game. That said, it's a coach's job to get the bench players in there during the season and develop them; so when the key games come around, you don't have collapses like we saw against NCST. Jones as a coach is definitely not equally yoked to the talent LSU has on the court nowadays, but a lot of the more infuriating things that occurred this year was more of a result of the roster they had.
Oh, and to be quite frank, no one really gives a shite about the Howland hire. This is one-and-done basketball. This is not a guy who wants to commit to a coach for 4 years and watch him turn a program around (based on his track record which hasn't had entries in like a decade). This is a guy who wants to play with top-tier talent right now, get on espn right now, and get drafted a lottery pick right now. MSU simply can't offer him anything close to that.

Yup and yup. Malik and Horatio knows this also. Malik has talked about wanting to work on his defense. He knows that is Howland's specialty. You boys or girls are setting yourself up for some heart break.

Horatio even stated that "Howland has put more guys in the NBA than Calipari." He's well aware.

You're grasping at straws and you know it, so I don't think you're going to feel bad about Newman not going to MSU.
