A third from the old-fart contingent. I don't see any harm in it, and it may actually get these non-reg communist pothead douchebags to shut up. (I mean non-reg communist pothead douchebags in a nice way.)

For real, though, I don't understand the opposition to cheerleaders/ADT at this point.

The concern is that it will lead to the eventual dissolution of the Yell Leaders, then the Aggie Band follows suit.

I just can't see that happening. I get that the civilian pukes who want the wimmens out there apparently want to be more like Baylor, so maybe that's where the concern comes from. But even among the youngsters (present company on this board not included) if the Yell Leaders and especially the FTAB were eliminated all Hell would break loose. I mean that seriously, not in an "Oh, I'm upset" way.

The "present company not included" smart aleck remark comes from some non-reg dipshit here (can't remember who and don't want to guess wrong) who wanted to see non-regs in the band. Yeah, that would work great!

Yell Leaders

Let's stop kidding ourselves; Yell leaders aren't what they used to be. They've been replaced by Bugle call, HEB tailgate, KBTX/KAGS Weather reports and several other ads.

The dissolution is complete. Aggie Dance wont hurt them anymore than those annoying socialist IBEW ads. So if I'm going to be blasted by non-game related stuff, it may as well be blondes in tights jiggling their tits around.

Frats had just started up during my time at A&M. One of the more enjoyable political events happening during my time was frats petitioning the school to allow them to hang their banners in Kyle Field. This was allowed, and followed quickly by the Gay Student Services Organization doing the same.

And the Corps laughed our asses off.

It has been a long time since I've been back to Kyle but I hate to hear this. 2012 Ole Miss game was the first college football game I had attended in a LONG time, and what stood out to me more than anything was the crass (and very loud) commercialization. I smugly told myself that would never happen at Kyle. And now you burst my bubble, you insensitive sumbitch!

As a former BQ, I can say with certainty that there is minimal actual military presence in the FTAB.

As much as we liked to talk about Col. Toler, he had a full career in the USAF as an active officer. When I came back from Iraq in 2004, I was able to sit down as a Captain and talk with him and we were able to compare experiences. When attempting that with Jay Brewer, all he could muster was, "well that sucks."

That's something dead BQs can't do with Tim Rhea, Jay Brewer, Paul Sykes, or the other guy.

Not that there's anything wrong with those four, but they are (rank) in name only, for lack of a better term.

Entirely possible. And I won't bother you for an explanation, you non-reg communist pothead douchebag. That phrase has a nice ring to it, don't ya think?

ETA: Edited for misspelling "douchebag".

If you don't watch KBTX 3/The CW 3.2 when you build your next house project using IBEW workers with YellaWood products being hauled by a Chastang Ford commercial vehicle while eating a Slovacek sausage with HEB's That Green Sauce.........

then you aren't a real Aggie. Turn in your Ring at the Association of Former Student tent next to the Pepsi Cool Zone sponsored by Wal-Mart.

I don't know who any of those people are. Not that it matters. My opinion of the band stems from it being all Corps members, not necessarily the commander or any actual military presence. To me the Band was the ultimate Corps outfit (I didn't really say that and if you quote me I'll deny it) who stuck together and didn't take crap from anybody. Want to visit somebody in the BQ dorm? Well prepare to meet every stinkin' band member multiple times before you reach your destination, and again on the egress. Want to screw with the band marching to Midnight Yell Practice? Prepare to get a bloody nose, at best. Want to claim your company marches almost as good as the band? Get ready for "The Tennessee Waltz" at the next march-in.

I had a lot of respect for the FTAB. I cannot see non-regs fitting in, in any way.

That was pretty good.

Off on a bit of a tangent, I don't get this. Jason Cook's fault? The AD obviously has money. Never too much money? It doesn't make sense to me. All the SEC games I've been to it has been pretty much the same, and I really don't get it.

Woah! And I'm the communists flower power hippie?!?!?! Hey t-bird, I think I found an anticapitalist mole within the corps!!!

But on the serious side, its inevitable. There's too much money left on the table if A&M didn't do this. I'd be willing to bet that although their ad revenue isn't as big as pro stadiums, they have more access to a bigger # of potential advertisers. Just looking at the stadium last season in between plays and there were ads for The Ticket 760, Sports Radio 790 and 105.3 The Fan all on at the same time on the ribbon board. Thats 2 seperate companies from 3 seperate markets paying to be displayed right next to the game stats. Sounds like A&M has found a regional Honey hole and its not drying up anytime soon.

As the official sausage of A&M Athletics, it is my duty to say Yes.

(They're actually OK. They sell their bratwurst on gamedays.... Or used to)
