The only thing I ask for is, please for goodness sake recruit and sign a top tier center

1. Consistently sign players that have a legitimate shot at being drafted in the NBA

Force the team to do nothing but play basketball until they understand the concept of offense.

Hire a free throw coach.

I'd also like to see a program that develops players at a high level. that includes keeping players in the program. Under grant not many guys stuck around long enough to develop. Really would have liked to see what this team could have been with Lacey and Pollard and even Nick Jacobs.

Have an offensive philosophy.

Build a relationship with AAU and high school coaches in state.

Market the program to fans, recruits, high school coaches, etc. Get people excited for basketball again.
Winning works as well.
Winning works as well.

This times 10,000. This program needs some life breathed into it.

#1. Take coaching guidance from the Alabama board of the SECr.

Would have saved Grant's job.

This. It's not just the first thing I want him to do, but also the only thing I want him to do.

AAU basketball is notoriously dirty. I heard it said early on in his tenure that Grant refused to play the "AAU game"...i.e., deal with those scumbags. Unfortunately, it has become painfully obvious that if you want to win in college basketball, that's what you have to do. Even Kobe Bryant thinks the AAU system is pathetic.
What I wish is that it would be possible for the next coach at Alabama to be able to win by developing great relationships with the high school coaches in the state while at the same time telling the AAU coaches to go straight to hell. Unfortunately, that's just an unrealistic fantasy.

There are certainly bad people in AAU, but it's not like every coach or every team is asking for money. It's just like every high school coach isn't a good guy. Sure, if a kid or his handler wants money, don't recruit them. But those issues more often than not come with the top 10-15 kids and we aren't recruiting those guys anyways so the negative AAU fallacy shouldn't really apply to alabama.

Do whatever you can to get fans to show up. Pearl has been recruiting his arse off to the AU fans, I'd like to see our next coach be that engaged.

Winning and playing an exciting style of basketball will get fans to show up.

The NCAA could stop this AAU crap in a heartbeat by making it off limits to potential college athletes. That would pretty much shut it down.
