I'm taking the wife and son with me to Chattanooga for a couple of days.

Aside from the aquarium and Ruby Falls, what are some other fun activities in town that a seven year old might like? It would be great if there was an arcade and go karts place similar to Andretti's outside of Atlanta.

The Art Museum, Rock City, Ghost Tours, Indoor Rock Climbing...

Bluegrass Grill for breakfast. Tony's Pasta.

Knock yourself out.

Download a 2 hour movie in 30 seconds.

Fastest internet east of the Mississippi.

All thanks to what some would call communism.

Isn't Rock City right near Chattanoga? I'm not sure how hard of a climb that would be for a 7 year old though

The aquarium is better than Atlanta's. And Ruby Falls > Rock City.

Grab a good cardboard box for the trip. A 7 year old will definitely say that sliding down the hill on the river by the aquarium was the highlight of the trip. Trust me on this... my kids were 9 and 7 at the time. He`ll get a kick out of the walkway over the river, but don't let him step into the massive piles of dog shite. That'll ruin a man's vacation.

I remember Rock City was neat when I was a kid. Don't do Ruby Falls if any of you are claustrophobic. Some fun stuff to do at Raccoon Mtn.

There is a tram to the top of the mountain if I recall correctly

Yeah, the incline railway to Lookout Mtn. I personally like Point Park and the history of it..and the views are nice.

Looking down through the clouds at river and town from Lookout Mountain is pretty cool.

1. The Aquarium- really a must do. There are two buildings; hit up both. Spend some time after exploring the River front and sliding down the hill as stated. It's very much worth it especially with a kid.
2. Creative Discovery Museum. This is probably 6-8 blocks from the Aquarium beneath the Lookouts stadium. I went all the time as a kid and loved it. I haven't been in years obviously but a good activity for sure.
3. Ride the Incline up Lookout Mtn. - This is something you need to do at least once. While up there, go to Rock City. It's fun as a kid to climb around and look out over the "seven states."
4. Walk across the Walnut St bridge and spend time in Coolidge Park
5. Chattanooga Zoo is suprisingly decent if you're looking to kill some time.

ETA-if you let your kid on trampolines, there is a place you should look into called The Jump Park. It's a room full of trampolines. I'm not sure how kid friendly it is though. It looks awesome; I would love to go.

There's more for you and the Mrs. but those are good things to do with kids.

I really like the way the Tennessee Aquarium starts at the mountaintop and ends in the gulf, but it really doesn't compare to the Georgia aquarium - particularly the saltwater exhibits.

Georgia's got Whale sharks, Manta rays, Beluga whales, Bottlenose dolphins (who put on a seaworld type show young kids love). The Tennessee aquarium, on the other hand, brags about their "huge" 10' sand tiger sharks.
