The Germans have been in Louisiana since about 1720, mostly in an area known as - get this - Cote des Allemands (German Coast).
The Germans joined with the Acadians in a rebellion against Spanish rule, then joined the Acadians again to fight with Galvez against the British during the Revolutionary War. It wasn't until WWI when German culture was suppressed in Louisiana.
Germans also served with Andrew Jackson against the British in New Orleans in 1815 and in Wheat's Battalion during the Civil War. We been got some fightin arse Germans down here yeah.
