Am I the only one here who likes art that doesn't resemble a fever-dream?

Saw "Starry Night" at MOMA a couple years ago. "Wheatfield With Crows" FTW.

you are not alone.

Art doesn't have to offend or shock half of the people who view it to be art.

The only art I like is from the early Christian period around 500 through most of the renaissance period. Maybe a little impressionism but really anything after about 1700 doesn't do it for me.

What would art be if its authors did not suffer from some sort of mental malady? Fever-dream art I can take. Shock art such as Serrano's Piss Christ is just filth, IMO.

In a similar style, Diego Velazquez was pretty amazing.

Art is just art for me. Sometimes it's just an aesthetic thing, really "pretty" to look at. Sometimes it's more personal. I have days where I'm in the mood for Dali and sometimes I'm in the mood for Vermeer.

Some of my favorites pieces:

After the bath, woman drying her nape - Edgar Degas

In Bed The Kiss - Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec

The Girl with a Pearl Earring - Johannes Vermeer

Irises - Vincent Van Gogh

Cafe Terrace, Place du Forum, Arles - Vincent Van Gogh

Water Lillies, Evening Effect - Claude Monet

Crying girl - Roy Lichtenstein

Lily - Alphonse Mucha

Minerva or Pallas Athena - Gustav Klimt

The Virgin - Gustav Klimt
