In all seriousness, if we win this game it will be because of guard play. Portis is going to have an even matchup down low for the first time all season. Beard and Qualls are going to have to make shots from the outside.

When our guards are hot, we can beat anybody in the country.

If Bell and Beard shoot well, Madden doesn't turn the ball over, and Jacory Williams never comes in the game, we have a shot.

Our rebounding is the x-factor for me. Especially after that 2nd half vs A&M fueled by our complete lack of rebounding.

Kentucky is likely going to manhandle us on the glass.

Doesn't matter unless the strategy is to try and sell out to stop their bigs down low.

Shoot the ball well, make the game about the guard play, force UK to adjust to our guards and perimeter play, Arkansas wins.

Trying to stop Townes and WCS from getting their 8 points a game, Hogs lose just like every team before them who has tried this strategy.

If UK sells out for the offensive boards, use long passes and tempo to create easy baskets in transition from them not being worried about getting back to play D.

On the other side, don't sell out for Oboards and let Kentucky have the same opportunities from Dboards.

Rebounds don't mean shite. 2nd chance points, yes. Rebounds themselves can be neutralized in a variety of ways.

I am sure UK's strategy is to crash the glass hard on both ends, they have superior size and strength across the board.

I do wonder if we start Williams or Kingsley over Harris today though.

I don't think Harris can guard WCS or Townes.

Harris is more physical than anyone else on the roster, yes, he gives up height, but not much else to WCS and Townes.

He presents a huge match up problem for their bigs, as does Portis as they both can play from the perimeter, UK will need to go zone if they want to block shots otherwise we will see if Cal is smarter than Dale Brown when he had Shaq if they choose to play man.

Again, they strategy should be force Kentucky to adjust their roster and rotation play to us, not try to adjust to UK.

Harris cannot guard either one, unfortunately when we tried Portis and Kingsley together it did not go well. Williams idk, could work.

Just not much we can do, a 7 footer that is going to be the #1 pick and another at 6'11 that's gonna be a top 5 pick.

He doesn't have to "guard" them, UKs entire offense is predicated of lobs or put backs off the rim, guarding them is a matter of not allowing them a free release to the rim, something he is more than capable of.

Kingsley still doesn't have a fricking clue what to do on the defensive end and when, he puts a strain on the other 4 to help way too much.

Well, kind of. But a 6'5 Harris can't do anything on either end against a 7 footer and 6'11 top 10 picks. I don't expect that to be the matchup either.

But Harris is a SF, and against 90% of teams we can get away with him at the 4

WCS/Towne/et all are not elite back to the basket players.

They are not going to get the ball on the blocks and work their way to easy baskets, easy put backs yes, easy jams when their guy leaves to help defend a driving guard yes, but neither are any better than Portis as far as low post game goes.

They have potential and the NBA will draft that, but Cal isn't make any of these guys better overall players, he is the closest thing to a coach just rolling the ball out on the court as there is on the offensive end in basketball, all levels.

Going about exactly as I thought. Trying to trot out Harris to guard a Kentucky forward was LOL and resulted in an alley oop over Harris for the first play of the game.

Williams and Kingsley offer basically nothing.
