Why?

There's this whole indie backlash against Fayettechill here in town among the artsy hipster types (which most people how know me would probably place me among) because they've decided that Fayettechill is frat dude bro wear. They were whining about them opening the store on Dickson and such.

They're a freaking local company that tries to give back to some degree. They're self made and bring a lot of positive hype to the outdoor scene here in Arkansas. I understand that their brand can be a little annoying, but the unjustified hate for them annoys me worse.

It's like a law of the universe that if you get successful, people are going to hate on you.

A large part of the backlash is due to the founder being from Texas, and the perception that Texas kids are ruining Fayetteville.

Serious question. Why is there that perception now? I mean what kind of "ruining" are the Texas kids doing?

My company is only of about 100 people but it's amazing how many have kids going to UA or the young ones siblings that are. It's quite often when someone comes in my office and sees my Arkansas stuff and I hear about how they love NWA so much.

Then again they are all from Dallas- - which isn't exactly accepted as "Texan" by the rest of the state.

Too many of them, and the worst part is they're all UT and aggy rejects. So we have the dumbest kids in Texas overpopulating the campus and the town.

They're not all bad. I have a few Texas students that are smart and well rounded, but way more that are just terrible garbage people. I'll ask one of these people where they're from and they always say Dallas.

Yeah, DFW gets called "Oklahoma" by the Houston area Aggie type people.

I don't mind the Texas kids. I'm happy they chose to come up here. And truthfully, most of them are just UT rejects who wanted to go to a big state school in a cool town with a big greek scene.

Most of them never wanted to be Aggies in the first place. I bet those Aggie rejects head to Lubbock.

Anyway, get used to it. Its the new normal. DFW is growing like crazy, and most of the growth is on the north end, putting those kids a 4 hour drive from Fayetteville, closer if 69 in Oklahoma ever gets fully upgraded. It will keep going.

A lot of it works in reverse. I think as NWA gets larger, you're seeing lots of NWA kids head to Mizzou, OSU or Ole Miss because they want to get away from home.

ding ding! believe it or not there are kids in Texas who go to Arkansas because they actually like the school and area. A co-worker of mine has kids in Southlake HS, he says behind OU Arkansas is by far the most popular out of state school for South lake kids, it's only the most affluent area in DFW. Coppell is another one, Those two districts are better than any public school in Arkansas and they have rich families, which means more money for the U of A

Pretty sure most of that footage was shot within 20 miles of Fayetteville. There might be a little Buffalo river area in it, but it looks like most of its the Devil's Den yellow rock area. For sure that's where the yoga girl is and the rock climbing. I think the road skater is there, too.

A lot of grads come here to Dallas for their first job, too. A lot. Especially accountants. The small town kids want the "big city" experience and then most go back home.

I love how many people here appreciate AR so much.

And I hope any of my kids are Texans that go to UA, but I will be happy if they just graduate from anywhere.

I was one of those Arkansas grads who headed to Dallas. I did five years there and headed back here. I'm a taxpayer and a good citizen for the most part.

And there are jobs in NWA for kids with business degrees. There have been jobs here for business degrees for 20 years.

Guilty. Born and raised in Texas, but ALWAYS hated UT. A&M hate started at 12. Didn't apply to either but I would have been "auto accept."

I also moved to Dallas right out of college, will raise my kids in DFW and hopefully follow our footsteps to U of A but I won't be pressuring them, so many good schools in this state

Obviously, I'd love for my kids to go to the UofA. Of course, my wife would like our kids to go to FSU. But, as always, free college is best college.

As the husband of a store owner in town, I love some north Dallas girls with daddy's credit card.
