Do we actually have free will?

Or do we just have the illusion of free will with a complex combination of brain chemicals and outside variables acting in concert when we "make" a decision?
If a computer could be designed with infinite memory and processing capabilities, and it had every variable in the cosmos entered into it at this exact moment, could it accurately predict future events into eternity?
Are things fated or do we have control?

We have more free will than most.

We're social animals, so no.

Well obviously Americans have free will but what about people in the countries that God doesn't love like Russia or Portugal?

I had free will when I was in Russia.

You keep it until you go native.

What's wrong with Portugal?

I would say no bc there is not really any free will unless there are no consequences. We have two options. The worst part is our decisions are always made based on inadequate information, which I think is by design.

It depends on who you're paying to make you believe something like that.

Genes->Fetal Development & Fetal Nutrition->Early Age Experience->Upbringing, Environment, Socio Economic Status,Adult Experience...up until about age 25.
The frontal cortex is the (most human part of the brain) and last part of the brain to fully mature (at about age 25). Because it is the last to fully develop, it is the brain region least shaped by that genome and most sculpted by experience.
Take away part of the executive decision making region take away much of the impulse control functions of the brain much closer to animal behavior and young children.
So even if you dealt a shitty hand to play, you still have choices.

It's not fun when that happens.

Feelings tend to get hurt, from what I've seen

I lean towards yes.

I will fight any Armenians on this board IRL.

We have enough of it for our eternity to be determined.

If you argue that we have no free will, you are arguing that your own argument is merely a product of the closed system.
The ability to consider this question is an argument for free will. Cogito ergo liberum.
