Both teams ranked in the Top 25. David Cutcliffe's first season with the Rebels after Tuberville turned tail and ran for Auburn. Shaun Alexander vs. Deuce McAllister.

I still remember the touchdown Deuce had when he was tight rope walking the sideline. No one attempted to tackle him because they all assumed he was going out of bounds. Alabama was up 27-7 and ended up squeaking out a 30-24 win. Shaun Alexander had over 200 rushing yards. Great game.

In your opinion, what is the best game of this series?

I bet Bama wins unless Eli was a quarterback or it was last year.

That was Eli's redshirt year. Romero Miller had a good year in 1999 if I remember correctly. I think he kind of fell off in 2000 though. Eli's coming out party was when he came in during the 2000 Music City Bowl and lit up West Virginia.

We had good quarterbacks throughout the late 80's and 90's. The last 10 years have probably been the worst era in Ole Miss quarterback history. Romero Miller was a stud and so was Stewart Patridge before him.

Ole Miss has had some very talented QBs over the past 10 years, just poorly coached.

Never saw it, but I'm told the Archie Manning-Scott Hunter duel of 1969 is the greatest game in SEC football history. Bryant and Vaught were both disgusted by the yardage their defenses gave up in that game though. Bryant "fired" his defensive coordinator on the sidelines twice that night.

Jevan Snead was a head case. Outside of the last 6 games in 2008, he was pretty meh. But I agree Nutt had a lot to do with that. Wallace was well coached but was just a wildcard. He would sometimes go against what the coaches wanted him to do and it would work out sometimes then other times it would cost us. Masoli just had absolutely no help around him. I felt bad for him.

That was the first college football game shown in primetime, right? Shots of Archie on the sideline once the game was last are telling of just how much that guy left it on the field.

People say this was one of the most talented teams in OM history. Most NFL players on it, but the transition from Tubs to Cut killed the team. This season is one of the reasons losing Tub hurt so much
