re: How similar is Rick Ray's situation to Croom's situation?

I have to interject some truths into this thread to correct a few things:

1. We made 2 NCAA's in Stands last 7 years- not 3. And one of those was that SEC Tourney run in a weak year that got us a 13 seed. So in his last 7 seasons- Stands had 1 team good enough in his last 7 to earn an NCAA berth on the last day of the regular season.

2. As someone else pointed- we were not the 3rd best team behind Kentucky and Florida for his tenure. Tennessee was ahead of us. And while LSU and Vandy didnt win quite as many SEC games during that period- their postseason success more than trumped the few paltry regular season games they trailed us by.

3. Stands had a really good 4 year run from 2002-2005. But let's remember- it took him 4 seasons to make an NCAA Tourney. And he had been recruiting and building the team he took over when Williams resigned. It wasnt like he came in brand new and had to start completely over- like Ray has.

4. Stands lack of discipline and work ethic cost him more success. And that was ultimately what led to his demise. The shite show off the court was ridiculous.

5. Ray is gonna get a 4th year. He needs to do something positive or he needs to be gone. But let's dont act like he has been supported like he should. The lack of support he has had fromevery direction outside of the Administration has made this a longshot at best. What good recruits want to come visit and play in a program with 1,500 fans at a game. You expect him to sell that shite to good recruits? Not to mention Stands "network" has disappeared to help as well??? Give me a break.
