Uh what

Before this year our last 4 starting qb each started for at least 3 season and who's to say that Coker will even win the job this season and some underclassmen wont

And I don't see the problem with starting a guy if he has 1 year of eligibility left or 4 years left, as long as he is the best for the job why does it matter.

First off my post was based on if Coker wins the job. Not a fan of having two one year qbs in a row. I'd rather see one player steadily improve over three years than a constant quarterback battle. QB is the leader of the team. I'd rather see some consistency there.

I mean were never going to the 1 year rent a QB direction until Blake Sims stepped up and stole the job from Coker.

After this next season Cornwell will have 3 years or Barnett will have 4.

Assuming Bateman/Morris doesn't win after Coker.

This QB race will be very, very interesting to see.

No it wont

It will. I bet you thought that Coker was a shoe-in for starter last season.

He probably would have been if he had been here for 4 or 5 months instead of 2 or 3.

Probably not, though.

I hope he eventually fills it out.

They'll beef him up.

If Coker came in the spring and was unable to win the position as you seem to think he will not this spring either in my opinion.

I think that there is a good chance he doesn't win the job.

I agree, especially surrounding the hype of him coming in and the staff I think was hoping he could challenge and was unable to.

They almost put him in during the Iron Bowl. He definitely challenged for the job. Blake just won it.

Barnett asked Sims permission to wear #6:

quote:

"I said wear that number proud," Sims said Thursday in Indianapolis at the NFL Combine. "There's no pressure, but just go out and play your game and do what you do."

Did he take the message from Barnett ? who wore No. 8 in high school ? as a request for permission to don the No. 6?

"He asked me what I think about it," Sims said with a grin. "I said, hey, it would be great. People are used to hearing Blake Sims for six, now you're going to start seeing Blake Barnett. So it's good it's staying in the first name."

Coker didn't come in until the summer didn't he? He was at a heavy disadvantage due to that. Originally it was planned he would graduate in December but he didn't.

no doubt. i can see barnett waiting for a couple years behind cornwell. hell, bateman is no joke either. i dont think coker starts this year. he was nice to have as a backup to blake while bateman and cornwell matured some. cornwell was recovering from an injury anyway.
