The Indianapolis Colts will interview Ted Cottrell, the Jets' defensive coordinator, at the end of the Jets' season, a Colts team official said.

Even though the first person on General Manager Bill Polian's wish list is Nick Saban, the Louisiana State coach and a former N.F.L. assistant coach, Polian wants to take a look at Cottrell. The Colts are not publicly commenting on their search.

Imagine the dominoes if that move happened. Bama might be still wandering in the wilderness looking for their next great head coach. Would LSU have continued to build on their success after 2001 or returned back to mediocrity? The perception of Peyton Manning in the playoffs might be very different and Saban probably would be coaching in the NFL today.

I'm sure a whole host of things would have been different. While I wish Saban would have signed Brees over Culpepper, the way everything worked out was far from the worst case scenario for LSU.

That would have made those Pats-Colts matchups even more intriguing.

I will always remember that we were just one Rita Rodriguez bitch session away from none of this ever happening for us.

There's a reason Rita Rodriguez is my favorite coaches wife.

Pretty sure it not only confirmed his existence, but also demonstrated who he looks upon favorably.
