1. Mississippi 21.94%

2. District of Columbia 21.66%

3. New Mexico 20.65%

4. Oregon 20.21%

5. Tennessee 20.04%

6. West Virginia 19.59%

7. Louisiana 18.87%

In summary, the seven states who rely on food stamps the most instead of getting a job like the rest of America vote republican. Rather ironic, shouldn't you guys be voting democrat since the republicans want to constantly make cuts to the food stamp program.

You may be new to this, but until Obama ran for office, black people didn't vote much.

I didn't know Oregon was a red state. Or that DC was a state at all.

People have been stealing from the government a whole hell of a lot longer than since Obama decided to run for office. Obama actually has made cuts to the food stamp program, and worked to regulate the program better than anyone before him ever has.

Yes, those of us that work and vote do vote Republican.

We're tired of supporting the Obamabots, so we're voting against their interest.

You aren't very politically astute.

On Friday, President Obama added his signature to legislation that will cut $8.7 billion in food stamp benefits over the next 10 years, causing 850,000 households to lose an average of $90 per month. The signing of the legislation known as the 2014 Farm Bill occurred at a public event in East Lansing, Mich.

Mississippi as a state is on federal welfare, too. They get so much more from the federal government in taxes than any other state. Its pathetic.

WTF? My God, man...put down the bong.

The same Census report showed that although nearly 1.2 million fewer people were living in poverty in 2013 than the year before, the number still remains nearly 5.5 million higher than in 2008. The official poverty rate — meaning the percentage of the population living below the poverty line — dropped 0.5 percent in 2013, but it still remained 1.3 percent higher than in 2008.

Meanwhile, the number of people receiving benefits under the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, formerly known as "food stamps," bounced back up by nearly 400,000 since the period covered in our previous update. As of June, the most recent period for which the government has released monthly figures, the total stood at 46.5 million people. That's 2.7 percent below the peak reached in December 2012, but it's still 14.5 million, or more than 45 percent, higher than the month before the president was first sworn in.

You know what's great about Mississippi? I can live here and make 50k starting straight out of school after partying my face off for 5 years, get married to a girl with similar income, buy a 4k sq ft house in foreclosure on 3 acres for dirt cheap, and comparatively look like a boss amongst the unwashed masses of peasants.

All this while getting a pass for any future mishaps because I just don't know any better, bless my heart. I'm never leaving.

Nah man, you're looking at it wrong. Big fish in a small pond.

You do have a longer list of places that must be avoided though.
