High porting sucks all the way around. Especially when we had to run back from the turf practice field to dorm 11 high porting our drums. ugh!!!

My bad. I took it as you make want to vomit because you asked such a dumb question.

But really you were talking about how it made you want to vomit because its difficult. Sorry...Aggie moment. I'm good now.

Yeah that's what I was going for

Guidon Candidacy was no fun. Made it all the way through, but wasn't selected. Ended up being an alternate. Which, ironically, meant I had to sub in to help carry the heavier awards flag

Always lost feeling in my thumbs for the rest of the day after highporting. shite sucked.

I'd do it all over again, though.

The loss of feeling would start at my fingers and by the end of a corps run, I would have to keep looking up to check to make sure my hands were still grabbing the guidon, because I couldn't feel anything above my shoulders. We had a really heavy guidon too, ran a metal rod down the center of it to keep from breaking it when doing 'present arms'. You could hear it rattling in there.

I don't remember having to high port the drums.

Maybe it's a repressed memory.

What I DO remember is that fricking cage on the back of the room and those two rows of tiles.

You don't remember that? It was always either loading us down with all the whitebelt drums or making us high port our own. Gah

I remember carrying 3-5 drums at once, but not high porting.

I also remember the few buddies that we very coldly "convinced" to leave.

I am grateful that y'all knew my first name our freshman year so that my first name wouldn't forever be "Howard" in the Corps Center (coincidentally, neither one of those two made it all the way through last pass final review)...and also that 99 was left out of that particular piece of history.

I HAD FORGOTTEN ABOUT THAT. I WILL HAVE TO STOP BY THE CORPS CENTER AND TAKE A LOOK AND SEE IF THAT IS VISABLE

:rotflmao:

ETA BACKSTORY

Our fish year the drummer fish were tasked with cleaning up The old bass drum used in the stands before the current one came to be used. Well in the process of doing the clean up we found the names of all drummers dating back decades on the inside of the drum. Class of '99 never used the drum and their names were not in there. So while we were cleaning the drum and getting it ready for display at the Corps center, we put our names in there. We had a couple of buddies who we honestly did not know their first names. so they were both named "Howard"

I showed "Big Red" to my girlfriend (now wife) back in 2005 when I took her to Aggieland.

Unless they've done a massive overhaul of the Sanders Center...it's there.
